Yeah, the second season is kinda eh. It's looking like it might pull itself back together, though. I liked the whole bit in the beginning where they make you sympathize with the people who eat people, and the whole bit about just how fucked up the cycle of revenge and stupid conflict can get, where you find yourself thinking "Why don't you all just sit down and talk it out, you stupid fucks?"

Ooooh so another manga that basically spins its wheels while seeming like the plot is standing perfectly still in spite actual changes occurring?

I've been waiting for something to dethrone Inuyasha...

*laughs out loud*

Ok sorry I can't even pretend. Nothing is going to dethrone Inuyasha in that department. So little actually happens you could confuse it for Slice of Life.

Why Netflix? I've got the internet to support it, I've turned your streaming setting as high as it will go, but you still won't give me HD! That might fly with live action, but I'm being forced to watch all my anime on other sites because you ruin all the wonderful crisp lines that I love. :'(

Also finally got around to starting up Puella Magi Madoka Magicka. I've fairly religiously avoided spoilers on it to this point, (other than knowing the fact that you get hit by Wham! moments in a rather large majority of episodes), so I'm definitely looking forward to being crushed. (Just not on Netflix :-\).

Does it seem to fluctuate, possibly based on time of day? I've noticed Netflix doing weird quality things here and there in the past.

Also enjoy your trip. :3

I'm around 8 Episodes into Kill la Kill now. My reactions while watching consist mostly of this:

Quote
What.
Why would you even...?
WHO DESIGNS CLOTHES LIKE THIS.
WHAT.
This cant possibly get any weirder.
I was so wrong.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT.
I dont know why this is cool, but it is.

Is it good, is it bad? I ahve no idea. But I cant stop watching.

Honestly I haven't noticed it being related to time of day. To me it seems more like a combination of Netflix being especially over conservative about allowing the switch to high quality and them not having any quality levels between "uber high" and "horrible pixels". My internet can handle streaming their top quality, but not by much, and if someone else is doing anything too big at the same time it can't quite take it. Netflix seems to think that this means they should disable HD even when there's just me online and I specifically say they should be using it though, at which point the only quality level they have left involves horrible pixels and all the lines becoming fuzzy (and personally I can't stand to watch most animes at less than 720p, there's just too much fuzz on what should be clean lines for me :P).

Welcome to KLK, the only anime I know of so far that hits your uncomfortable topics so hard with awesome that they cease to be uncomfortable and move into a sort of weird awesomeness, then goes even farther to the point where you don't even really see the uncomfortable anymore, just the awesome. (I've had shows deal with uncomfortable things, and shows that were awesome, but KLK is the only one I've seen that deals with uncomfortable things by being awesome.)

So, yesterday the chapter with Luffy going gear fourth came out. It looks so cool. The hype train was worth it.

Are you watching through a web browser? If so, have you tried the ctrl-alt-shift-S trick to force the bitrate?

That's a good tip, and you can also try browser plug-ins that grab the video stream and put it in a file. Ant Video Downloader is one that works on many sites for me, I use it for many videos sites (but it doesn't work for them all), so i can get HD rips and play them locally without buffering.

No I haven't, I'll have to give that a try.

Flash-type videos like youtube (or the sight I use for my non-Netflix anime) aren't a problem at all (since I can strem HD) it's just the Netflix setting that is a problem. Hopefully the bitrate forcing thing will work. :)
