Yes, but that only says that they've signed on to be involved, not that they still own the main rights. Note how it says original owner.

Warner Bros was working on that movie for almost 10 years without any progress. I guess they've washed their hands of the whole mess.

Courts have already stated that Harmony Gold's franchise doesn't extend to anything that was in Macross. That's why Robotech: Shadow Chronicles (2006) only features mecha and character designs from Mospeada, who's rights are held by Harmony Gold's partners in Japan, Tatsunoko. Tatsunoko were the executive producers of Macross, but they don't hold the rights to the series.

So, they can make Robotech movies as long as they only feature stuff created whole-cloth by Harmony Gold ("original intellectual property rights holder"). Which is mostly Americanized character names and the like. I'm not sure they're even allowed to use the name "Zentraedi" for the giant aliens, since that's a Macross thing and the term never appears in later Robotech works.

I will go and see it if it gets made. I'm mainly interested in how they will skirt around the legal restrictions. Most likely the end product won't resemble the TV series whatsoever.

Hey, anyone know any anime where the protag is actually...intelligent? I mean I love stuff like Fairy Tail and such where everybody's brain is stuck on "attack attack attack" but I also kinda wanna watch some stuff where the good guys aren't always 12 steps behind.

I guess the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Code Geass with Lelouch being the mastermind of the entire plot. Anything similar?

Well, with one exception I've generally thought that most of the characters of Steins;gate were quite intelligent, but actual fighting is infrequent.

While some of the cast may be somewhat intelligent, they are pretty much always twelve steps behind and just reacting blindly to what happens.

Hmm Corpse Party: Book of Shadows (the sequel) is certainly interesting.

It fills in some of the details the other games didn't show you, has a few twists, delves into some of the more underdeveloped characters, and some of the ideas are much more haunting.

Shame it just gets sillier and sillier until it just outright copies Higurashi's plot almost outright without any of the forethought that actually made it work.

It also probably includes one of the oddest rants I've seen since in essence she is blaming someone for something that is her own fault but done on a soap box of "Yeah people should stop doing that" when I am thinking "Just talk to the wall if you have a problem with people having personalities".

And then in a way contradictory to that actually basically going "But I was an idiot" which I am thankful for, since I've seen people write what it wrote seriously.

Yes I am being vague, for good reason. I wish I could elaborate more but the big drawing point of the game is its mystery.

---

Also dear goodness Corpse Party... If someone is delirious with fever you call the hospital.

Do the Japanese really hold out THAT long when someone is dying of the flu?

Regardless of which point Flying Dice is referring to, you should keep watching Gurren Lagaan. Trust me, it gets better. Don't ask me how, it just gets better.

Ah, ya never know. There's always that one person who doesn't know that Sirius killed Voldemort's lover's roommate's cat.

I wonder if Netflix ever got around to getting Episode 8 up. Let me tell you, that was a hell of a shock when it suddenly jumped to episode 9's opening with no warning.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Started watching Gurren Lagaan for the first time.

I just finished this for the second time last night; It actually has a lot more thoughtfulness than people give it credit for.
Pretty much every single thing in the show, including the stupid bullshit, is given a perfectly acceptable reason for why it can happen by the end. And let's not even get started on all the foreshadowing, all the time.

It's a show that is both way over-appreciated, and way under-appreciated simultaneously.
And the second half is the better half.
