GITS:SAC is a pretty awesome show. Aramaki is a definitive badass, despite working behind the scenes, and it becomes more relevant as episodes pass. Hell, mark all of Section 9 as a team of badasses.

or what other anime would you people recommend. I prefer things with people shooting magic at each other...such as the kidou in Bleach.

code geass is very thinky. Ghost in the shell is far thinkier.

You may want to try Stike Witches. Just ignore the lack of pants.

I just finished the first season of code Geass, and I'm very confused.

The situation with Euphie seems very contrived. I can see Lelouch losing control of his Geass, but right when he's making very uncharacteristic jokes? If it had been, for example "I have to convince my people that you're not trying the kill all the Japanese" that would have made a lot more sense. And what happened to the girl running around with the nuke?

For Euphie, he was letting her in on his geass. He said what he said as an attempt to tell how he can get anyone to do anything, using her committing genocide, which she would never do, as an example.

That's a big part of what I don't get. As much as I can understand his need to unburden to someone who knew both sides of the mask, so to speak, I have a hard time buying him showing his hole card in that manner. With his need to maintain secrecy, I would have expected him to Geass her to write something (to make his point clear), along with making her keep it secret. He obviously never intended to use it on her otherwise, else he would have never brought her in on it in the first place. The other thing that's bugging me is why Kallen got so upset when the mask broke. She knew he wasn't Japanese, and Lelouch was acting very suspiciously.

Well, he was prepared to cooperate with her, so he felt ready to tell her the truth, I guess.  And he does have some respect for people's free will, and he generally tries to avoid using Geass excessively.

Lelouch was acting suspiciously, but he did *sortof* clear himself with that telephone call.  That and Kallen didn't want to believe it, I guess.
