Just a quick note on the kanji, the line that goes across and then down is one stroke.
They should blend together.
Look at the stroke order picture here.

AH! But you were able to recognize it! My art job was done.

If you used that logic every time, you would just draw stick figures that have minor variations.
Like the hat guy from XKCD.

Heh, I'm not an artist, we're going to be getting someone else to do it, the purpose of these was to show a concept, which needs to be good enough to give the information.

I have been wondering about Japanese writing. I heard that there are 3 different types of Japanese, which some Japanese don't know.

Also it seems there are multiple ways to pronounce the same word and have different meanings  ???

You can also give a word a different meaning by making it vertical  ??? ??? ???   (Zetsubou sensei anime, zetsubou = despair)

Hmm... they have the ideographs (kanji), hiragana (used for most writing?) and katakana (same alphabet as hiragana, but used for emphasis and special purposes... I think?).

I think it's also a slightly tonal language, in that different tones can change a word's meaning (nothing like to the extent of Chinese though).

And I guess we write homophones in English, right?

Hiragana: Japanese words
Katakana: non-Japanese words/emphasis
Kanji: difficult to memorize
Tones: generally not worth worrying about.  Every language has tonality of some sort or another.

A note: NieA_7 is terrible.  Would not recommend.

I am watching it because I own it and am currently incredibly exhausted.

I just read all three of the Blue Drop Manga's.

The one with the explodey girl was cute.

Comedy anime and manga with Japanese trying to speak English is funny  :)
It seems to vary from voice actor to voice actor - some of them actually sound only slightly awkward in English.  Then again, some, on the other hand...

That didn't even sound English.

Fine, it's French.  Still funny though.  And the noise he makes barely sounds human, let alone English.

Yeah.  Useful for spoiler avoiding.  I was surprised how easy it was to do that too.
