It desperately needs a second season for things to actually matter. It's neat, but it gets kinda stupid and ends at a really shitty spot. Perhaps the shittiest. The manga's got a bunch more material it seems, but who knows if there will be another season.

They did miss out on a few important characters I hear, so it might be hard to make a second season which actually makes sense

Well, I just rewatched the entire run of Kill la Kill thus far over the past two days. That was an experience, to be sure. I'm not sure my brain was properly prepared.

Found an interesting manga via TVTropes. It's manga and relatively historically accurate vikings, what's not to like? Aside from a lack of giant robots.

Vinland Saga

Basic plot summary, there's a band of viking raiders, the main character's a kid (prolly 16-18) who's going along with the raiders even though he hates their guts, the raider leader knows the MC hates their guts and is manipulating him with promises of "do our bidding, and I'll fight you in a duel" which is what the kid wants because he really hates the leader's guts. It looks fairly historically accurate, no generic fantasy tropes like all castles are made of stone or everyone has platemail or all vikings have horned helmets.

There are some artistic liberties, like the raider leader at one point throwing a hatchet and decapitating an archer with the thrown hatchet, but that adds to the sheer viking kickassery.

Yep, Vinland Saga is badass. There's no way to properly express how amazing it is.

Although that's probably a good thing, this early on.

... I find it kind of interesting that I've watched subbed anime so much that now when I read manga, my brain unconsciously translates the words back into japanese in my head.
Not constantly- I barely speak japanese. But stuff like 'Get it together' or 'Listen Carefully', oh yeah.


Edit: Holy crap if this was an anime, the entire budget would go on the first episode.
And it would be AWESOME.
