I just downloaded "Tenkuu Danzato Skelter Heaven" which is a 19 minute OVA by the "Mars of Destruction people". Preparing to LMFAO and gouge my F-ing eyes out ... :./

EDIT: goddamnit i'm 4 minutes into this flaming turd of an OVA and it already feels like they're padding it out with filler xD. They had a TV news presenter repeat the same bit of info 4 times, and we haven't even met any of the characters yet. Though they were shown in the OP flying around with exo-skeletons ala Sky Girls or Infinite Stratos. Considering that there are ends credits as well, i'm assuming the entire story is crammed into 12 minutes xD

Everyone in Gamble Fish is completely insane, and IN THE MOST ENTERTAINING WAY POSSIBLE.

I loved Gamble Fish so much, it's one of the shining star examples of story design just going "You know what, fuck being rational or sane, let's just be awesome."

It's part of the reason why I like Legend of Koizumi, it's not trying to expound a grandiose narrative, it's just trying to entertain through any means necessary.

I agree with you partially; I would have accepted the more fantastical elements if they has been present since the start of the story.
For a good long while, the most fantastic things were the teacher who looked like a Nazi goblin and a girl with abnormal body temperature. Then suddenly hypno-eyes.
But that really wasn't what detracted from my entertainment, it was that everyone seemed to take things way too seriously.

By tha time he graduated from middle school, he realized these thangs was only ta be found on televizzle, n' not up in tha realm of realitizzle. Of course, not a god damn thang of tha sort straight-up existz yo, but Kyon done cooked up tha mistake of humorin her - n' became tha straight-up original gangsta underlin up in tha newest club on campus, tha SOS Brigade, savin tha ghetto one mystery at a time.

Now Kyon was bout ta smoke up just how tha fuck thoroughly Suzumiya Haruhi was goin ta chizzle his bangin realitizzle forever.

I'm on volume 5 of Dorohedoro now.  It's...unique.  It's by the assistant mangaka for the Blame! guy if that means anything to you, because it kind of explains the art style.

Ebisu is pretty adorable.

Otherwise I find the setting and characters much more interesting.  The biggest issue I have is that the translation is pretty mediocre (GWR are usually better than this too, must be an older scanlation) and the narrative is sometimes really hard to follow.

It's totally worth reading though.
