I don't think he cleaned up his act so much as... His dastardly evil actions are occuring off screen where no one can see. It sort of annoys me that he gets away with it.

Somewhere he is taking people's eyeballs out for fun and killing pandas to see how the world would react with them gone.

Kidding! He is likely poisoning women and immolating the people under his charge some more.

No one, I think the point of his character is supposed to be that he basically gets away with everything. Afterall he got OUT of jail to become a captain.

Mass murder, Genocide, and Child Abuse is apperantly small time stuff. Though I guess that also brings the problems that THE SOUL SOCIETY SUCKS! into play.

Mayuri is definitely a Karma Houdini, but i get the impression that alot of the really horrible stuff he boasts about these days he isn't actually doing anymore.

I mean, we havn't seen him turn anyone into living bombs lately; Mayuri seems to have graduated from 'psychopathic murderer' to 'crazy nazi'.


What Mayuri does show is that the Bleach universe isn't black and white, which is nice; Soul Society really isn't a very nice place, but it's better than the alternitive.

The Soul Society is supposed to be a throwback to earlier times where the obvious flaws and barbarianism present in the system are supposed to be obvious and nostalgic.

Though I didn't need Mayuri to show me the Black and Grey of the Soul Society. Afterall
1) It is a system based upon power rather then competency, intelligence, or otherwise.
2) It is a Feudal system when I think about it. Basically the Soul Society says "We will protect you, but you work for us now and live in poverty"
3) Everyone is either a Thug, Negatively Honorable, or Homicidal.
4) Their laws do not protect people of lower classes from higher classes...

Honestly where is the WHITE in the Soul Society? Their "Healer Crew" is genuinly unliked.

I don't know, plenty of them have demonstrated a wanton disregard for basically anyone. I wouldn't be surprised if Malyuri tests his experiements on the general populous first.

That and the Soul Society is pretty repressive against the people in general anyhow.
