I find it a bit more weird when the fan translation, that is not that good, is better then the official translation.

Or better yet... when the ENGLISH DOESN'T MATCH ITS OWN SUBTITLES! Dang it EVERY game in the universe!
If we're still on Eclipse it's probably because the people who made it can't speak English.

Ok I have to ask... are some of these screens bad translations?
Because the MLA Total Eclypse seems more like it just added random swearing because the japanese character swore.
(Apperantly swearing is a rather iffy subject in translation especially since they don't have the same meanings or strength)
Because fucking BETA!!!

Fansubbers only have self-imposed deadlines. Professional subbers are paid by the hour, or by the project. Either way, close enough is good enough when it's costing money, it seems.

I'm not surprised that sometimes the English audio and English subs don't match - I've seen wildly varying subs for the same scene from 2 different sub groups. Sometimes there just isn't any "one true way" to translate something.

I've seen it not match even when the Subs are dirrectly based on the script for the dub. Usually when it comes to minor details.

Fansubbers tend to stick to the original humor/message from what I figure.  Though, the presentation of the message/humor can be pretty different from group to group to 'professional'.

Hah. I still haven't finished Eureka Seven. I pushed as far as I could, but it just wasn't enough.

On that note: I'm thinking of watching Berserk. Any comments?

Berserk is a lot more depressing of an anime then it would seem.

Question! Does it resemble Devilman or Violence Jack in any way? :)

Started watching Eureka Seven AO. Entertaining enough, had to rewatch some of the 1st season episodes to remember stuff though...

Not familiar with Violence Jack and only a passing familiarity with Devilman, but it depends on how you mean. Berserk has a much, much better story from what I've seen, genuine characters, and a lot more going on than just monsters running around everywhere. Still ridiculously violent, though.

I'll second Berserk having an absolutely marvelous story and (in the manga) a cast of very round characters. The main issue with the anime is that it was cut off both at possibly the most depressing point in the story, which was before the introduction of something like two thirds of the main cast and easily as much of the plot if not more.

It's worth a watch, but you're almost obliged to read it as well. Incidentally, I seem to recall hearing news that Kentaro Miura has been forced to take regular breaks for his psychological health (hence the schedule slip/long, long breaks between chapter releases) because of how taxing it was to keep writing and drawing. Make of that what you will. :|

Sometimes Beserk falls into almost being too believable with some scenes that would raise eyebrows in real life, but would otherwise be perfectly natural in the setting it is based in (Hense the Homoerotic water fight... Which may or may not have been homoerotic... The anime is very vague on this... same with the manga)

Less homoerotic, more Griffith-crazy, one would think.  :P
