Houou and Pengin's deaths were much too sad and well...despair.  Maniwa Corps are completely gone now, gone.

Togame getting shot at the end was cool though.  Although again, it's mainly for Shichika despair.

Has anybody else realized how death-happy this series is?  It feels like a shounen base plot (collect the swords) but SO MANY PEOPLE ARE GETTING KILLED IN THE PROCESS.

Honestly with the fact that Shichika almost certainly has Shirou's VA from F/sn the parallels are even deeper/worse.

I finished off the last of the question arcs for Higurashi a while ago, and the amazing scene with Akasaka playing Mahjong inspired me to blitz some Mahjong anime before going through the answer arcs. So I rewatched Akagi, which was quite good, then I started watching Saki, which is like taking a shounen sports anime and throwing moe/yuri at it. The perfect prelude to all the murderin' I'll be reading about in the next few Higurashi arcs, I guess.
I also noticed this, and am not sure if it's just my imagination or a legit reference:

I mean I am like 99% sure that the Black Butler thing is a reference since both characters are voiced by Ono Daisuke and teleport but the Mahoromatic link is a bit more tenuous. ANYWAY, back to preparing to finish Higurashi.

...Does Danganronpa even have an English translation? Because it sounds amazing! I played a bit of Corpse Party, but the gameplay was kinda grating. The story and setting were both interesting, and the voice actors were excellent, though.

Yeah Corpse Party had some issues.  I had to replay Chapter 5 at least eight times and the lack of saves really made me waste a lot of time.  Worse than 999 even since you had to actually move around and do shit.  I really want to play the sequel Book of Shadows though.

Oh that's interesting.  The very fact I'm stalled in Fate/extra is the same problem you have with CP Nilum.  The gameplay is grating.  Oh well.

Hey guys.  Remember Kara no Shoujo?  It was a little Innocent Grey detective VN I started playing in March.  Well I started playing it again and got my first non-game over ending! (well I got a few game overs too but never mind those dastardly false realities)

It was depressing as shit!  Yay!

Got a very early bad ending where you're abducted with the ever-ly present dead Orihime.  The Black Madonna man.


Kusaka died...and Kazuna's leg with him.  I'm still shocked she managed to survive in a postal box.  But well...suspension of belief I guess.  It gets worse.
(funny enough on my other playthrough we managed to get there in time and stop Kusaka and get him alive.  It seems fate wasn't so lucky for him this time.)

I still don't believe he killed Yui.  Or at the very least, Kusaka snapping like that and killing her is strange.  I mean...why would he kill girls to 'rebirth' her if he was the one to kill her in the first place?  I suppose he wanted to 'cleanse' her sins but does that really have to invovle raping her newly completed (completely rotten) corpse and then overdosing on drugs?  Kusaka you fool.






This 'Toko bad end' was fucking nuts.  It's a bad end so it ends abruptly but it had so much content in it.  The game over screen was also a much brighter white version instead of the usual black background.  It also didn't involve Reiji's death in any way.  The 'dream sequence' was very strange and fake Toko getting hit by a truck is just too extraordinary and fantasy.  I mean, the real Toko walked up to her immediately afterwards, that's impossible.

I feel bad for fake Toko's mother.

Does she look happy to you?  No.  And Fake Toko treats her like shit.



Ah, gotta love H game detectives.


I'm pissed Tojiko died.  Why the hell did everybody have to keep dying.  By the end there's such a small pool of characters it's pathetic.  I mean, for the Ouba Girl Academy all I can count is Ayumu.  How the heck does Saeki stay in business, and where the heck is the real Principal of the academy during this whole one and a half month ordeal?!  I'm pissed off!!


I have to praise Innocent Grey's art work and atmosphere.  The music is quite good besides maybe two or three which are a bit grating.  The Ouba Girl Academy theme is quite good and Saeki is a bro.


When Toko goes missing from the hospital we get a short (but sort of fun) logic game where we need to figure out how she was able to get kidnapped.  It is of course, the asshole!  Which I'm not sure if that was surprising or not.  He stayed pretty realistically calm through the whole thing.  The fact you only learn of his relationship with Nene by sheer chance lessens it a bit, but...

Then again, real Toko getting hit by a truck and losing all her limbs (an important plot point) was also entirely by chance.  The truck driver isn't even named or shown.  I think they get two lines at most.


And then Nene is killed at her boyfriend's apartment and Toko taken.  Presumably by SHINJI.    (whoops sorry F/sn and NGE leaking out).

Yeah Katsuragi Shin's real name is actually Mamiya Shinji or something.  Great.  Shinzo's son.

And no, Nene's murder wasn't brought up again.  A knife and cord just killed her!  I mean...why even carve her face up with the knife to make it unrecognizable...oh god...

NENE CULPRIT no that's stupid the knife has Shinji's fingerprints

Case Closed.


No wait.  Shinji is dead.  Why do all the serial killers die before we can get to them?!!?  First Kusaka now Shinji...fuuuck and yeah that's Shinji's Dad.  He admits to killing him.
(he kills himself too, so we can't even arrest Shinji's killer, yay)

This is a story of how a bunch of serial killers killed a lot of people and then killed themselves while we had sex with students.


Cool CG.  I kind of warmed up to Yaginuma since even his high-pitched yelling is pretty entertaining.  The fact he has a gun is worrying though...

Also him punching Uozumi and not even fazing him was pretty great.  MY HAND IS GLUED TO MY GLASSED HELP ME

14/35 = 40%

2/5 of the entire character cast is dead.  I guess that doesn't sound too bad BUT ALL OF THE CULPRITS DIED.  Except for Murase but he was a very very light accomplice who wasn't even a murderer.

I finished Katanagatari.  That was...certainly something.  I do feel the empty void feeling I get after finishing something I enjoyed so I can use that as a gauge I suppose!

When if I think back I can make very loose parallels to Fate/stay night.  These aren't as convincing as say Ever17 and 999 (since those actually had the same authors) but I can certainly put the pieces forward.

1.  Dopey MC who gets either a stupid or reasonable? resolve.
2.  Naggy heroine who nobody likes and gets way too much screen time and lines
3.  Shounen type BIG BAD GUYS F/sn being Master+Servants and Katana being the 12 Sword Holders (Maniwa Corps are third-party unknowns!)
4.  Even with the easy to understand initial plot structure there is a ton of death and some scenes are way too inappropriate I guess

The ending reminded me of Onani quite a bit, at least for how the MC ended up.  With the 'enemy girl' so to speak.  Also a pretty loose fate for them at the end.

Skill improves with time and practice, not angsting, and application is something you only need to consider at the very start. Charge forth with reckless abandon after that.


So go draw some crappy manga or something.
