I'm caught up with Berserk.  Very sad now.

EDIT:
For humors sake I'm going to salvage where I first started reading.
Okay I read the first three volumes of Berserk.
Holy shit this is amazing.  I'm so disappointed in myself for saving this for later it must be NOW NOW NOW

I gladly await subs for the new movie as well.  It looks like there'll be three films over this year doing the Golden Age arc, awesome.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to the movies as well. Of course they won't move past the Eclipse, if only because of the sheer amount of material, but it'll be nice to see.

I believe I've heard they might adapt the entire series later, which if true would be pretty incredible.

It's amazing that after 22~ years Berserk is still going strong.
And the author has a talent for writing characters that even if you hate them at first, turn into enjoyable and likable ones once they get fleshed out more.

Yeah but as someone pointed out. He isn't beyond having a few detrimental tendencies to his writing and a few seriotypical ones.

Though only I am bugged by it.

I'll be honest, his writing and drawing have immersed me a lot more than most other works I can think of. At the very least, Berserk is in my top 10 favorite things.

Well honestly, doesn't that describe almost every writer? Nothing comes to mind when I try to think of something where the author did everything right.
I am certainly willing to overlook a few flaws if the overall work is good quality.

Currently I have been reading though Vagabond as my next endeavor, and though it occasionally can be a bit juvenile in taste it is also enjoyable and lies in a similar vein to Berserk.
No wonder I keep running across Guts vs. Takezo fanart, they are both pretty hardcore badasses.

I'll be honest, his writing and drawing have immersed me a lot more than most other works I can think of. At the very least, Berserk is in my top 10 favorite things.

I would say at the moment, it is my #1 favorite fiction series.

Yep, I like organising writing styles as well as a writer's strengths and weaknesses. Thinking about things and analysing them is actually one of my favorite activities. The fact that I generally speak about negative things is simply because of my personality. (For example I extensively thought about why exactly KFC Chicken tastes better cold then it does warm.)

Also I meant to a larger degree then a normal writer. Though I didn't mean it made it bad either... just head scratching at times.

On the bright side this tendency has allowed me to appreciate things of lower quality as well. Often just by understanding what they were going for or by laughing at the silly things it does.

My issue with Bezerk is I just don't like any of his characters so I can never get invested. Then again I was never a fan of the anti-hero / Jerk-hero. Nor does Gore Dark settings particularly interest me.

Though what I am bringing up is a issue of taste not one of weakness. I hated Deathnote for example.

Though I guess the fact that I absolutely possitively hate deathnote is a testiment to how good it is. Though I won't explain why, I am hoping some extremely analytical genius here will read what I wrote and understand for some genius bonus.

Ah, for me, I found the dynamic between Guts and Griffith to be interesting because, while they superficially appear to be an antihero/hero (or possibly antihero/antivillain, depending on your perspective), Guts is pretty much a hero archetype played straight, especially once he gets stuck with meets the post-Eclipse nakama (of sorts). He's determined, fighting for what he thinks is right (and revenge, plenty of revenge), and generally will put the safety of others over his own life. Certainly he was something of an antihero right after Eclipse, but pretty much from the moment he met Puck, he started sliding back into hero territory. Finally, this might be something of a stereotype regarding antiheros, but a brooding bishonen Guts ain't.

Well it feels more like Griffith is the shining knight and Guts is the Beserker. A lot of it is supposed to be you uncovering the character's true personalities and motives. Its about parting the curtain and finding the character under the steriotype and how they evolve as characters.

It is very well written.

The steriotype isn't so much in terms of them being super heroic or brooding antiheros. The understanding of the manga as somewhat a play on appearances is important.

At least FZ is subbed now.  Good thing I went to bed, staying up until 5am would've been difficult.

Although it must be said that 6 hours late is a lot more tolerable than 5 months.

I can't wait for the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica movies to be released. It's an awesome series, and I find movies are way easier to introduce people to anime with than series of shows.

Especially for animes that take a LOOONG time to be really good.

For example Princess Tutu doesn't start to really show its colors until the second season. The first being rather generic... but this is all intentional. The first season is supposed to be a very steriotypical magical girl anime.

It is the same for my favorite anime too. Unfortunately you cannot skip ahead because the entire anime is sort of a build up.
