Hmm, a good mix of romance and mechs... Redline
For me, Redline was terrible if you tried to take it seriously, but good fun if you tried to treat everything like a parody.

The main thing I'm wondering is what the hell would possess you to mash three series together like that.  You can't even give the normal "budget" answer because messing around like that would cost even more.
They were selling the series as a weekday syndication deal, and, at the time, you needed a minimum of 65 episodes to get that. That's why they mashed the three together. I agree with your friend about the lawyer stuff. Harmony Gold are using their dubbing rights to the 1982 Macross to block imports of everything up to Macross: Frontier, which is the main reason you'll never see an English dub of that. Basically the Americans are claiming their 1982 localization rights gives them exclusive rights to make sequels to Macross for perpetuity. Since this was thrown out by courts in Japan (yes, Harmony Gold sued Japanese studios in Japan to stop making sequels to their own series), Macross continues to be made there, but it's still contested in many countries.

Their sequels so far have been Robotech: The Movie (a "robotech" redub of "Megazone 23", YET ANOTHER un-related series / characters), and "Robotech: The Sentinels". Which uses re-cycled footage from Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada AGAIN. They even re-use the entire wedding footage of one couple to be another couples wedding !! The more recent remake is "Robotech: Shadow Chronicles", which is kinda ok as Robotech sequels go, but a bit boring. It only features mecha and character designs from Mospeada, since that's all Harmony Gold have undisputed rights to now.

As for Animes that are original... I have no idea. Heck I don't even know many (or just about any) animes that are original works unless they are also a movie.
Because I'm evil...

Wow it even includes an example where a Manga was made of an anime where the manga actually drops important elements and completely misses the point of the show.

Kinda interesting seeing it happen in reverse.

Whaaat. That's a PC screenshot, right? I didn't realize the art patch fixed the resolution as well. It's approaching Mahoutsukai no Yoru in terms of fidelity. If only a proper Tsukihime remake with a Mahoutsukai level budget could come to fruition, it'd be the best visual novel ever.

Ridiculous.  All that it is to be human can be summarised by friendship, love or mecha.

Tsukihime's remake is suppose to be coming after Mahoyo.  Come on Dark Six...
Umineko's PS3 port by Alchemist has pretty ridiculous production values.  Pretty much anything by Alchemist honestly.

EDIT:
I'm pretty sure that image is somebody hacking the PC game yeah.

EDITX2:
Volume 30 and 31 of Berserk done.  Such a solid manga now...
Spoiler: volume 31 (click to show/hide)

I was planning on going to sleep but maybe there's other things I can do...

Oh speaking of which,

'sup nerds, I need somebody to investigate something for me.

Apparently there is something called Crimsons: Akai Koukaishatachi, that I absolutely must read.

I googled it, and the first hit I got from mangareader makes it seem like a strange read.

Manga-updates

Project Bite Me! have done five chapters so far.

Can read on Batoto here.  I can only find downloads for the fifth chapter on Bite Me's site.  Thanks Bite Me.  And the fourth chapter.  They're there but you will have to look through the blog of inanity.

My primary problem with checking these bizarre things out myself. They always get the weirdest site hits when googled.

Just wanted the existence of an entirely fish-based manga presented to you all.

The synopsis for the fish manga sounds like a parable for leaving the "nest" of  adolescence for the wider world. So it's your basic coming-of-age tale, but with talking fish?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

EDIT: Recently watched 5 Centimetres Per Second, that was a great film, and just saw Kure-nai, I was a bit iffy after the first few episodes but it got pretty good as it went on.

"The new protagonist is played by Minami Takayama. She's the voice of Detective Conan."

DETECTIVE CONAN
