Yeah the game could use some updates.. If I wasn't in a group I probably wouldn't play either.

as i said, the creators hate the game, but they cant turn it off because people have paid and it would be illegal

on the other hand shartak is pretty similar and its always geting nice updates

I don't think Kevan hates his game. He does in fact play it sometimes, like with Bob. And he has to tinker with the search ratings, because that determines if zombies or humans prevail. It just takes time for him to implement changes that will not cause imbalances that will cause zed/harmans to whine.

However, it's not 'illegal' to shut down the game. People donated money to have be able to play the game without worrying about the IP limit. Kevan can shut the game down without any such worry. He may lose ad reveune though, but one cannot overestimate the amount of money Kevan makes through this MMORPG.

wen i say kevan hates the game, and that its illegal, mark my words its like that.

actually true, im wrong, kevan dosnt hate the game, he hates the players, he is so tired about people trolling , and insulting and so on that he ended up hating the game.

as for the illegal thing, since people have payed to keep the ip limit it is illegal, i dont know how or why, all i know is that he wanted to do it, made a little investigation, and turns out it was illegal for him to do that.

yes i know he playes every once in a while, i acutally made a hunt kevan contest wen he was playing bob in a mall siege :P.

either way , both kevan and his admins have been surprised because each day there are less new players, so in other words the game is slowly dying, or so we think, who knows it might keep it up, either way, he should make some updates, so far shartak is working 5 times faster than ud.

I have noticed an extreme amount of drama in UD but how do you know he hates the game? Did he say?

Sorry about veering off topic, but there was a game that had the same system as UD but there wasn't any AP and it was based on Doom. Has anyone here played it?

I don't mean to get involved, I've played the game and found it rather boring.

If he wishes to shut the game down, he can. Its his website and he can do whatever he wanted. If he wanted to make it a porn site, he could and NO ONE could stop him. I've donated to a couple of free games for perks, and if they shut down tomorrow, they would be within their rights. WoW could shut down tomorrow, and no one could stop them from pocketing their money.

Just because you donate to something doesn't mean they can't go under the next day.

Well, WoW is different, in that you are actually purchasing a subscription, as opposed to just donating. While WoW could shut down tomorrow, I think WoW would give a refund to people who purchased subscriptions, pro-rated from the time when the game actually closes to when the subscription expired...if only to avoid the negative publicity.

Yeah, MMOs close down all the time.  Some of them are subscription based, some aren't.  I think the normal system is that they let you know ahead of time, make the last month free for everyone, and probably repay you for totally unused game cards if you whine enough.

What would be interesting if, say, an MMO allowed you to purchase in-game stuff with real-money, you purchased the Rocket Launcher for $10, and then the MMO shuts down. Do you think the MMO is obligated to refund you the $10 you paid for the Rocket Launcher?

That's it, sir. You deserve a medal.

And now I shall vacate this thread with due haste. Good day!

No. That's a microtransaction MMO, and they aren't obliged to give refunds either.

But it would lessen the incentive to, say, buy stuff.

I mean, who would invest in "virtual" real estate like Second Life or Project Entrophia if they know that if the MMO shuts down, they won't get any refund for purchasing "virtual" islands?
