Sacred (1 & 2)
« on: December 07, 2008, 03:40:35 pm »

Anyone here play Sacred? By the looks of my map, I'm a small fraction of the way through the game and I've been playing for around fifteen and a half hours.

I'm playing a Dwarf at the moment. Some of his idle comments are funny. Just now, I was idling and I heard him start singing "It's off to work we go" from Snow White. Shortly after that: "I wish I brought something to read." Another time, he asked if my mouse was broken.

I'm not exactly sure what to say now that that's out of the way, so... Discuss?

S1 and UW, plus S2 player.

But due to the heavy lag (all servers are in Germany at the moment), I only play SP now. I have a level 25 or so Wood Elf on Closed HC. Currently I'm playing a Shadow Warrior in S2 Silver.

I play Sacred 2 offline usually.

The massive patches are annoying me.

Sorry for the mega bump, but I'd like to say that I've just found out that Sacred 2 is a colossal piece of crap. I'm not saying it's a bad game. I'm saying most pieces of feces I've seen have had better quality.

Really? Does anyone test for bugs before releasing anymore? I've run into many game-breaking bugs, such as not being able to attack someone who is currently attacking me, having random strips of ground you can't walk on, and many others. The sound quality, even on machines that are way above the requirements, is very stuttery.

Multiple 600MB patches? Didn't we used to buy games on CD that were that big? Don't forget that some people can't even install the latest patch after wasting hours downloading it. The usual response of "uninstall and reinstall, ad infinitum" doesn't work.

What little bit I've played was decent, minus the bugs. I've finally gotten to the point where it's a chore to play, so I'm uninstalling. Hey, what's this? The uninstaller LAUNCHES THE GAME during the ten minutes that "Windows configures Sacred 2." That's another stupid point. I'm uninstalling. There's no need to spend ten minutes configuring anything.

Sacred was was amazing, I'm not too sure about the second one.

As you journey to the center of the world, feel free to read the death announcements of those dwarves that suffer your neglect.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously throughout the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips, I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw.

Sacred 2 requires online activation. That should be a huge turn-off for you.

Also the devs aren't very responsive on the international forum. There're some really nasty game breaking bugs(1) reported for several weeks and no respond or patch yet.

(1) Some monster special attacks render the player with 1 max HP - which means instant death. Ouch if you're playing Hardcore.
