Either the writer of that was imagining the guy giving a sniper the finger while scratching his ear subtly, or he was playing DF in the past week.

DF mentions are getting more and more common. Next thing you know Valve will release a L4D expansion where you get attacked by zombie carp that crawl out of the river. There were about half a dozen references to other zombie games in The Passing, after all.

Tropico 3 is well worth it if you like city builders imo. It's hard, but not unforgivingly hard, kind of like DF after you've managed cliff-like learning curve. Mistakes like not investing enough in military or raising some jobs wages so high that nobody in their right mind would do them (which can be lethal if you accidentally make farming/ranching/fishing undesirable) have realistic and irritating consequences. If you liked Black and White 2 but hated the creature, it's probably worth getting.

It's 7.50 on Steam now. Get it while it's hot, don't put it off if you're even mildly interested. If you aren't sure, download the free demo. Seriously, don't wait.

Ugh, Black and White 2 was an awesome city builder, with a nice combat feature, and these literal deus ex machina creatures walking around stomping on everything. The only reason you needed soldiers at all was the creature couldn't capture towns, it took like 200 veterans to take the creature down, more if he knew the lightning and heal miracle.

Tropico is Black and White 2 taken a step down - you're not god, you just think you are. Very fun game.

I've played Black and White 1, and I never thought myself as a God, only as some sort of truck driver. Argh.

It's a very good update, but I'm getting pretty concerned about the lack of serious modding support. Also, where's the music? There's like 2 songs in the whole game. Good songs, but still.
