I thought that Faraday Cage served only to channel an electrical discharge to the ground and not actually interfered with magnetic fields?

Depends. They can protect things against a strong magnetic field if made of an apropriate metal, but that only works against strong magnetic fields or fluctuating magnetic fields. You're right that they generaly aren't the best option, but I didn't want to post a lead box :P

Are you sure about that? I know that lead can stop hard EM radiation, yes, but the magnetic field? So, you're saying, that I can put a magnet in a lead box and not detect any magnetic field outside?
