I think that is some art for a comic about a what-if they stuck to the original model.

Also I don't think they ever say what happens if it gets to a dead body. It certainly does not end the world.

It is suggested as a marinade for steak... given that even suggesting experimentation with dead matter will get you demoted to being dead suggests something like below would happen:
