This is the third installment of the Mafia game, set in space.
She lay on her side, a pinprick in the endless universe, a silent tomb for the dammed; she was called “Evana”. One hundred and fourteen thousand tones of metal, left to drift for eternity, rendered powerless in an attempt to destroy the souls within.
“A harmless experiment” they had claimed, “Volunteers welcome!”
But the crew were no volunteers; bound to their duty as personnel of the Deltan Army they had no choice. Not one protested when the unsmiling nurse produced the complex syringe, nor did they understand the consequences that came with the metallic liquid contained in it. All they felt was a short sharp pain. All they heard were the voices of the nameless politicians, the chorus of gleeful men promoting their new wonder drug.
It had all gone so horribly wrong.
When the first reports had come in they reported nothing more than ‘a few small and minor side effects’. The army had seen to it that no one was to know any more. But slowly news trickled through the imposed black-out that far worse things were happening. Behind the smiling faces, the promises of ‘super human abilities for the general public’, was something much worse.
It seemed that a select few of the subjects in each of the testing centres had become uncontrollably violent during the night. There were reports of gruesome murders, strangulations and random violent acts, leaving many dead or in critical condition.
The Army blamed the scientists, and they in term blamed the new “nano-tech”. Design to be self sustaining it reproduces and modifies itself, continually adapting to its surroundings. But in some it had mutated beyond its original intentions, implanting itself in the user’s brain, inducing an uncontrollable rage, made even more dangerous with their new found strength.
Authorities feared what would happen if this drug spread out into the galaxy, transmitted through blood and wounds. They had been quick to act, eradicating the subjects, not caring whether they killed the infected or the innocent. They vaporised the select few ships which the drug had been trialled on, leaving only smouldering wreckages.
They said that “Evana” had been lucky, but few believed that. Sent on routine patrol to the outskirts of their territories it had been too far away to be destroyed quick enough for the likings of the Army. Instead it had been locked down, power and control removed from the clutches of the crew. They had been left to die, imprisoned in a silent metal tomb.
In Mafia there are two sides, an Uninformed majority, vs an informed Minority. Every player has a role and is either pro-Mafia or pro-Town. The Mafia's aim is to kill enough pro-Town players so that they either equal or have more people than the town. The town's aim is to kill all the mafia players. They do so in two phases, day and night.
During the Day everyone, town and mafia, vote on who they want to lynch, and give their reasons why to persuade people to vote with them. At the end of the day the person with at least a 2/3 majority is lynched and out of the game. If there is no majority, no-one is lynched. It then proceeds to the night phase.
During the Night the mafia send me their choices on who they wish to kill. If there is a tie I will choose at random. The person with the most votes in then out, with a nice piece of RP about how they died. The Day then starts again.
Some people can have special roles, such as a detective or doctor to help aid their team in winning. The game needs at least five players to work well, so good luck.
Just because it is on this list, doesn't mean it will be used.
Detective:
Each night the detective is able to discern wether one person is guilty or innocent, they can then use this infomation to swing the lynchings in the right direction.
Doctor:
Each night the Doctor can choose one person to protect. If that person is targeted by the Mafia, the doctor can save their life and no one will die that round.
Vigilante:
Each night this person can choose one person to kill, he is on the town's side.
Bodyguard:
Each night this person can choose someone to protect, like the doctor, but if their charge is targeted, the bodyguard dies taking their attacker with them.
Freemasons:
These people all know each other to be innocent and usually form a solid base for the town.
Hider:
Each night this person can choose someone to 'hide behind' if the hider is targeted then he will survive but if he chooses to hide behind the person who is targeted, then he will die aswell.
Saint:
This person's benifits are entirely posthumous. If the saint is successfully lynched then all the villagers will realises their dreadful mistake in killing such an innocent person. They will then turn on and kill all those who voted for the saint.
Berserker:
This person is similar to the bodyguard, except that if they are attacked by the mafia, then they will die, taking there assailant with them. They can not protect people.
Alpha Male:
This person's vote counts for double. They do not know that they are the Alpha Male.
Hated:
This person requires one less vote to lynch. They do not know they are hated.
Welp:
This person's vote counts for nothing, effectivly they might as well not vote. They do not know they are the Welp.
There will be more in this list later.
