Pandarsenic glanced back and forth. Turning on him. All turning on him. Even the mutineers whom he'd joined had turned on him, not daring to show their true colors yet.
"Arr, so is that how it be, maties?" he asked. He reached to his belt, drew his cutlass.
Cheeetar lurched forward, his own cutlass in his hands.
"Scurvy trait-augh!" Pandarsenic had thrown sand - God knows where he got it - into Cheeetar's eyes. As the crew began to pursue him, he ran... to the plank?
"Ye'll not catch me, ye salty dogs!" Pandarsenic roared, sheathing his blade and swinging, then hanging under the plank, then moving onto the side of the ship's hull. He began to work his way sideways along the hull. Pandarsenic, ever a hothead and a daredevil, was always alongside Cap'n Zako at the front when the crew had climbed cliffs to raid a town. Now he was putting that practice to use, gloved hands and boots using barnacles, the edges of planks, and the occasional cannon-hole to work his way along the side of the ship.
"Cheeetar, webadict. Dark. Flintus. Go belowdecks, catch the mutinous rat if he tries to - he be climbing back in!" Zako yelled out. Pandarsenic had reentered the ship through a cannon hole.
Hearing the Captain's command, Pandarsenic grabbed some of the food, a bit of fresh water, disgusting though it was, and a hidden reserve of someone else's booze he'd found. Tucking his ill-gotten gains into his belt, shirt, and pockets, he climbed back out the cannon hole just in time to avoid Flintus' swing at him.
"He be back outside! Arrr, someone stop him!" Zako commanded. The crew hovered helplessly above him. "The life boats!" Zako suddenly yelled. "Get yer worthless hides to the life boats!"
Pandarsenic beat them to one, using a tomahawk to sever the rope between him and freedom.
He set his loot down within the boat and began to paddle away furiously. Before any of the crew could load one of their flintlock pistols, he was out of their effective range.
