Ignoring the last part I agree.

To shorten the name just use Televangelist

We already got Priests, who are cultural sleepers. What would "Televangelists" add?

Flavor and a new archconservative debate attacker, mainly; seems like a good deal to me.

Would we want them to just be a rare encounter in downtown apartments, latte stands, and TV and radio stations (plus maybe the cigar bar ;)), or do we want a megachurch location? It seems like right now they'd be best on their own wherever, but if we ever got around to trying to muddle through the tangled mess adding a Separation of Church and State issue would entail, we'd need a megachurch.

Hmm. A megachurch would be good to have if we added Health Care as well, to give poor injured Liberals a desperate chance to go get some Wisdom and/or Religion in exchange for the possibility of maybe healing...

If you add this, you have to add Jehova's Witnesses.

Jehova's Witnesses would have to be moderates though. They're apolitical pacifists.

They're still conservative though! Just not the political way!

For that matter, your typical Christian (Protestant) is a moderate (or even liberal on some issues), as they want to be left alone.

Catholics on the other hand...

Hey!  I take umbridge at that.  Catholics have a wide variety of views and most of us are content to live and let live.  Furthermore, if you break the vote down, you'll find that catholics are on average at the middle of the political spectrum and who ever wins the larger percentage of the vote has won the catholic vote for some forty years now.  "Protestants" as you grouped them represent all other Christians and are the ones responsible for all those right wing policies since atheists and other non-christians tend not to vote right wing.

Think of it this way

Liberals are for Abortion
Conservatives are for the Death Penelty
Catholic Religion is against them both

I don't QUITE know why people are lumping Catholics with conservatives in LCS... probably because Conservatives are seen as "Bowing down to the church" in terms of LCS or because they are seen as unchanging which if often seen as an attribute of Conservatism.

I have played with the idea of eventually modding a Catholic Crime Squad, but...

Not all Catholics believe in all tenants of the Catholic religion. 48% of Catholics supports abortion either in most or in all cases, according to this poll. I know John Kerry, a Catholic, supports abortion. And while the Church is against homosexuality, 58% of Catholics believe homosexuality should be accepted by society. Catholics traditionally vote Democratic as well.

I'd assume the LCS would likely view most Catholics as Liberals, not as Conservatives or other deviants that neede to be purged. Though they may wonder why they still call themselves Catholic if they go against the Catholic Church, but...

Basically, it's sex.  If something isn't sexual in nature, the Catholic church's position is practically elitely liberal (death penalty, "social justice", environmentalism.)  As soon as sex enters the subject (gays, abortion, sex ed), the church shoots over to the arch-conservative position.  The two roughly balance out for a moderate position and a lot of infighting goes on among the bishops about what to stress.  Maybe there could be some way for the LCS to influence this infighting and make sure the Catholic church talks about the non-sex stuff?
