one thing i noticed is your penguin's [SWIM_SPEED:5000]
it will actually make them swim slower than normal, see: http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Speed
basically, speed is a complicated calculation and lower numbers in the raws are faster in game/higher in game speed value
if you want them to swim as fast as normal creatures move on land then use [SWIM_SPEED:900]

edit: you might also want to add more layering on the penguins because they live in cold climate, the creatures in large_tundra have 200 or 300

Edit] Also added Galbatross seeing as people seemed happy with an overpowered albatross. I decreased the albatross down a bit as well. The name is surprisingly evil, I came up with the neologism by fusing giant and albatross, but it ended up sounding like the evil king in the inheritance series EditEdit: which sucks so I might change it back, any suggestions to what I should call it.

Try assigning the [VERMINHUNTER] tag to the birds. Hopefully, this will make them hunt their own food.

In Game Speed (higher=better) = 1000000 / (100 + Raws Speed)

If you want to rearrange that equation so that you can get a specific In Game Speed that you know you want, then make the Raws Speed

Raws Speed (lower=better) = ( 1000000 / In Game Speed ) - 100

Why do even birds like falcons and hawks have PET_EXOTIC? Those are perfectly trainable even by normal humans in real-life. In DF, even GIANT TIGERS are just regular pets.
