I want to make elves stop using wooden armor and use leather instead. Do I simply remove chain and plate mail from the list and replace them with leather? Would this have effects other than guards now wearing grizzly bear leather armor?

Why, since they have moral problems with killing animals, would you want such a thing?

Wooden armor is ugly/silly, heavy and unflexible. I don't think it really fits the grace theme

Anyway, I don't think using wood is any better than using leather their morals considered. I'd make them wear dwarf, human and goblin skins if I could but bears dead of old age and accidents will have to do


Edit: do I need to give them the leatherworker job for the armor to be properly generated? Would this have other effects, say make them sell leather goods which I don't want?

I think you need to remove their [WOOD_PREF] tag from the entity file.

For weapons, yes. But if you disable chain and plate armor they'll only be able to use leather armor.

Think I'll just remove their armor altogether instead. It's not like they'd pose any more of a threat with it

Should stop them from trading wooden chain mail too. Falling branches being fashioned into trinkets and being sold as firewood is somewhat plausible. Remove wooden swords and presto, a race that isn't quite as retarded!
