Building border/profile.

I don't know, I mean they all do look different. At first everything looked like chaos to me, but know, all I see is the beatiful trees and the lush grass. And I don't have much trouble separating the workshops, then again I usually dig small half-open rooms for them.

I was playing DF once when a friend came over, who play's no computer games at all, and he looked at the screen and asked me;
"Is that the inside of a computer?"

I never have problems telling workshops from each other...

Perhaps you need to spend a few more straight days playing  ;)

Yeah, neither do I now. But some borders will make a building like a building.

One trick you can try is building your buildings out of different materials. A jeweler shop built from brass or Marble is a little easier to see.

The problem is that when placed in a certain way, tiles of adjoining workshops can sometimes look like a new workshop.

I sometimes can't make heads or tails of what's what in the fortress, and that's after well over 30 fortresses in over five separate worlds. Hopefully the problem will go away with tilesets.
