According to Wikipedia, hippos are considered one of the most dangerous animals on the African continent.  Their victim count only surpassed by that of the mosquito.
They're violently agressive, known to accidentally charge, trample and rip apart innocent bystanders. 

Yeah, I've seen a documentary film about them, this is true. I never thought that hippos are so agressive...they look so peaceful in the zoo...

Well a lot of animals that would normally rip you appart in the wild are much safer when they are brought up in the zoo. Take apes for example.
