On the wall is an engraving of a window.

My fortress couldn't get windows so they decided to improvise...

A fairly standard image of my current mayor ascending to leadership a few years ago. I almost passed it over as boring, but then I noticed the name. "Sethnom, The False God." What makes it even more beautiful is that my Captain of the Guard was the engraver, apparently there's not a whole lot of love lost between those two.

edit- I kept looking, and the Captain really doesn't like my mayor. Amongst many other engravings of her ascension, I've got; The Seduction of Youths, The Odorous Lies, The Padded Wisp of Torture, The Ungodly Convent, The Ignorant Ape, The Disloyal Woman, The Lustful Storms, The Persuasive Queen, and The Sins of Pugnancy. I imagine that the good mayor promised to sleep with everyone if elected, hence all the stuff about lust, seduction and 'persuasion', then didn't follow through on the promise, hence "The Odorous Lies" and the Captain's general dislike of her.

the fun part, it is engraved in Jacob's room.

An engraving similar to wallie's:

"Engraved on the wall is an exceptionally designed image of dwarves by Cerol Edanrigoth. The dwarves are laboring. The artwork relates to the foundation of Bladeshoots by The Exalted Towers of the Armory of Frenzies in the early spring of 201."

It's a standard engraving done in the late spring of 208.

The title?

"The Clutter of Shame."

XD

If you look at the DFMA uploads, you'll notice that the first two levels are a complete clusterfuck of "temporary" stockpiles and workshops built in every little corner. On these two levels, there are currently workshops, stockpiles, and a dining room that will be expanded to seven+ levels once more of the spire is filled out.

I have a defensive carp moat.I had an engraving of a carp killing an elf.Badass.

I have a dragon that I captured when it attacked my fortress and have since tamed & trained (yes, modded it to be trainable, but totally worth it).

I now have this engraving on the floor of my legendary dining room:
Quote
Igath Uk, *The Scrape of Dinner*

Engraved on the floor is an exceptionally designed image of Stozu Spiderfrills the goblin and Ziril Warmthflickered the Gem of Sweltering the dragon by Sigun Lokumotsus. Ziril Warmthflickered the Gem of Sweltering is striking down Stozu Spiderfrills. The artwork relates to the killing of the goblin Stozu Spiderfrills by the dragon Ziril Warmthflickered the Gem of Sweltering in Boatfliers in the early summer of 217 during The Attempted Abduction at Boatfliers.

One interesting bit is my 'attempted abduction' count seems to have reset. I think before this year in my fort I was up to 10th or 11th, then I got a few years of sieges instead, and now they're back to ambush attempts and child snatchers, and it seems to have reset the counter.

Maybe it's a different goblin civ. I'll have to check. In any case, it's my new favorite engraving.

EDIT - Ziril just BBQed another goblin ambush that he spotted all by himself. The rest of his patrol squad was elsewhere... he just breathed flame twice and ignited at least 3 goblins and the rest ran. :D

I love having a pet dragon.

Yea, wasn't quite sure what to think of this one when I found it. I think I have a very... strange... dwarf in my fortress.

Spoiler tags as the image is fairly large and I can't get imageshack's resizing to work, and can't be arsed to re-save it on my PC.

I smell murder. Of cheese!

In fact, there's more engravings of brutal devouring of cheese. In the most 'public' places, like alcohol storage or dining hall. And that guy is my mayor... and engravings about his ascension to power have nice titles, like "The Humorous Tricks", "The Masterful Lie", "The Councils of Disasters"...

Someone doesn't like the mayor.

...Various and sundry masterwork engravings of my most expensive artifact to date, Trothustled the Grand Diamonds the Mithril chain mail, worth 1086000 dwarf bucks. Said artifact is the subject of engravings like : The Youthful Fortune, the Black Stances, the White Laces, the Pet of Saturnity. They're all bizarrely appropriate names; said artifact is infamous even in enemy fortresses, since I've loot with decorations featuring said artifact; and also in friendly ones, the mountainhomes and the halflings brought in cages decorated with faint yellow diamond and tin featuring said artifact, again.

Also, newly engraved in one of my catacombs: "The Renowned Fragrances", a finely designed engraving of a fresh elf corpse.

Guess the little dorfs don't like the elves much either.
