This map is also notable for being the only map I've ever played where natural features caused more damage to the ecosystem than my dwarves did.

That right there is siggable stuff.

'Engraved on the wall is an exceptionally designed image of a dwarf and toads by Bomrek 'erithseth. The dwarf is surrounded by the toads. The dwarf looks terrified.'

I have no idea either. This guy is a legendary engraver, and this is in the mayor's tomb area, which is an artifact steel sarcophagus encrusted with microcline, studded with fine pewter, decorated with goblin bone, encircled with bands of chrysocolla, and menacing with spikes of Kunzite, cow bone, and Chrysocolla. With an image of a human striking down an elf in steel (The image, not the elf), and an image of a steel mace (a previous artifact) in Birch. This is situated where a magnetite seam gives way to the top layer of limestone.
It's still the wierdest engraving I've found yet.

The *large serrated steel disk* strikes the Raven in the head, tearing apart the muscle, shattering the skull, and tearing apart the brain!
A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

ive gotten this a lot, when you turn on the engraving history and go check the dwarf in question they normally have a fear of whatever particular vermin is in the image. its often something like "this is a picture of fikkud talldoors and large roaches. fikud talldoors is surrounded by the roaches. he is in a foetal position"

you get ones like "he is screaming" and "he is crying" as well. i find it really funny. also i think you can get ones where the dwarf likes that kind of vermin and as a result is happy.

I am loving the new "Show history feature" in the init features. It's made even made some of the "surrounded by dwarfs" and "dwarfs traveling" images interesting.

Example: My fortress once had a mayor who liked mandating impossible items (no lead on the map). He was later booted out in an election. I ran across an engraving along the lines of "Urist McDwarf is surrounded by dwarves. Urist McDwarf looks dejected. This relates to his being voted out of office in 165"

Another time, a "dwarfs traveling" image related to the abandonment of my previous fort!!

Huh. I never realized that that could happen. Man but it would be embarrassing to have a engraving commemorating your end of term in your bedroom.

Rakas alil, "The Strangers of Glee"

Engraved on the wall is and exceptionally designed image of Aspuz Hatreddrip the goblin by Sodel Ducimodad.  Aspuz Hatreddrip is falling.  The artwork relates to the collision of the goblin Aspuz Hatreddrip with an obstacle, after the death strike by the cow Sarvesh Shieldfancy in Ironstakes in the late summer of 204 during The Fourth Attempted Abduction at Ironstakes.

I'm not quite sure what happened there - I assume one of my cows managed to kick a goblin straight into my death pit.

Engraved on the floor is a well-designed image of a kobold and a carp.  The kobold is making a plaintive gesture.  The carp is laughing.

Livestock can be surprisingly fierce at times. A little while ago I saw a mule uncover and subsequently kick the ever-lovin' crap out of a goblin thief. The gobbo was left to try and crawl away with two broken legs and a mauled arm.
I sent a marksdwarf out to put the thing out of its misery.

Not exactly epic, but pretty amusing nonetheless:

The same dwarf also carved "The Spurting Oozes", relating another one of his engravings, "The Romantic Bust". He seems to think this is appropriate decoration for a dining room :o

No. It is FLIGHT as in flying threw the air without ground contact;

He was a novice mace dwarfs, but otherwise pretty good states - he got ambush - hammered.

He was send flying and flew over a cage trap - snap it caught him and prevent all injuries.

After I build the cage I could free him.

He has his own little fangroup under the engravers.
