Slightly off topic, is a crossbow that shoots ballista bolts doable?

I'm getting the general gist that it's doable, but takes an awful lot of know-how, real hacking of the game itself, and some serious time to get the exact replication of a bolt that goes about three and some screens along, with the graphic the same as a ballista bolt, and goes through everything remotely alive in the way. Course, you could settle for making a new crossbow, calling it a portable ballista, giving it a bolt ammo with damage of... a thousand, ballparking how much damage a ballista bolt does, raising the weight an insane amount, making it two handed, making the bolts weigh balls out a little under what a ballista bolt weighs in game (portable, remember?), and naming the bolt "Portable ballista bolt"... Course, to make it a little more believable, you could say "Barbed portable ballista bolt", or call it the  "GPBb" (Grinder portable ballista bolt), or, or, uhm... Aha! "Powder Tip" "BpHPBb" (Black powder Headed Portable Ballista bolt), give it GORE damage designation, and start making little red commas and periods all over the place with -many- chunks. Would explain why it only hits one person, in my mind, what with the tip of the thing exploding whatever it hits into a gelatin that can bleed. Huh... Seems an awful good idea for a .50BMG anti-materiel sniper rifle port into DF for a more futuristic mod...
