This would be ☼AMAZING☼ if I could actually get it to work.

That is strange.
Are you running on an Intel mac with MacOSX 10.5?
Have you copied the application to /Applications (or similar location)?
You cannot run it from the dmg.

I tried it on my MacBook laptop with a clean install of Dwarf Fortress and it worked without a hitch.
If you are running mods that modifies the Dwarf race id, then the utility will not work properly, but that would not cause the error you saw.

I open up DF load up my fortress and then I open up Foreman.  Its just an empty window with the "load from DF" and "write to DF" buttons on the top.  The rest of the window is blank.  The very first time I clicked "load from DF" it asked me for my password and then did nothing, but now it just does nothing.

Open /Applications/Utilities/Console and then run MacForeman.
Console should catch any error messages from MacForeman.

Wow, that is really weird. It means that a boolean value (0 or 1) has a value 2.

Are you running version v0.28.181.40d of Dwarf Fortress?
Are you running any mods?

For some reason the layout of the unit data must be different for you than for me.

After loading DF and Macforeman and clicking "Load from DF" I get the same error as Karlito.

2008.12.18 4:47:02 PM MacForeman[3984] Invalid job from game: 2
2008.12.18 4:47:02 PM [0x0-0x138138].org.ignem.MacForeman[3984] 2008-12-18 16:47:02.532 PokerTool[3985:10b] *** Assertion failure in -[PokerToolController readDwarfJobs], /Users/ignem/Projects/MacForeman/PokerTool/PokerToolController.m:299

This is on 10.5.5 with DF 0.28.181.40d.  I have Mike Mayday's combined tiles and graphics pack installed, but no other mods.  The DF app is in /Applications/Toys/Dwarf Fortress 0.28.181.40d with graphics/

With 76 dwarves I'd love for this tool to work.

UPDATE: Just tried the save game with a fresh download of DF and no mods.  Same problem.

UPDATE: I created a fresh world in the fresh download of DF and embarked a new fortress.  That worked.  I then tried that save with the graphics pack and that worked, too.  So there's something odd about my first fortress that MacForeman doesn't like.  Here's a copy of my save for you to investigate.  Thanks again.
