Defense Tactics
« on: November 28, 2008, 09:55:18 am »

I do like some more detail in trials, not just in what you use to defend yourself, but how you plan on defending yourself. Some ideas.

---Self-Defense: You are claiming that the police fired first, so you had to respond or be killed. This can work in defeating the more 'public charges' such as murder, because you are defending yourself, but it may not work with more 'private' crimes such as Hacking and Kidnapping.

---Violation of Privacy: You claim that the evidence against you is either manufractured or was aquirred through the violation of your privacy, and hence should be thrown out. This will work with more private crimes such as 'Hacking' where reasonable doubt may exist, but won't work with the crimes are out in the open, such as when you are seen committing murder. It also won't work when Privacy laws are already at their highest, to claim further violations of privacy is just stupidity.

---Liberal Anger: You admit the crimes were done, but that you did it because you were driven insane by Conservativism, and thought all Conservatives are evil and deserve to die. If granted the necessary treatment and palore, you would no longer commit these crimes (of course, you will need to stay in an asylum for a while, and lose all your juice in the process of being 'cured'). It may work effectively with Elite Liberal populations who might be sympatethic to your pleas for forgiveness...but repeated use of the Liberal Anger tactic becomes less effective and might sway people that prehaps the Liberal Crime Squad is just lying.

EDIT: In retrospect, an Elitle Liberal society would already throw you in a rehab program to rehablitie you, so what you would be arguing in L+ is that...er...You don't need their treatment, it might make the condition worse, you could do it yourself?

"it was  Self-Defense"
i can't see that one working to well, 'so this one man attacked 6 men who where all armed with m4 and full body armor'
but if you use a hand gun on a ccs member then maybe.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Oh boy. Illegal weapons. I forgot about them. How do you defend against charges you have an illegal weapon? Claim that the weapon only looks illegal and is fact totally legal?

I wish the game would either Downright tell you that evidence is useless or actually allow evidence to be important.

The game only vaguely implies that court cases ignore all sense of evidence.

On a side note: You should be able to steal evidence from the police to eliminate future possible charges (assuming they are small enough to be there)

Liberal privacy laws make it easier to get evidence thrown out since the police are more likely to violate liberal laws then conservative laws.

Your Honor, I was just jogging in the park when suddenly a man came and put an AK-47 in my hands... then he turned and quickly walked away.  I was so bemused by this that i didnt notice the policeman whom i was pointing and, not knowing how the device works, fired 10 times accidentally till I realized how to stop.
My ears were crushed by the thunderous noise of the weapon and thats why I kept jogging (at high speed) while some police officers where chasing me and calling me back.  When I finally realized what was happening I turned myself in in a peacefull manner.  I just had a tiny nervous breakdown and inadvertedly hit some police officers in the proccess.

Now that this is clear, im willing to accept your apologies for all the trouble that this judicial process has caused to this innocent and law abiding citizen.

I think my alterations would have helped greatly.

mmmm... and how do you explain the handling, pointing and using of the gun if you just had it in your pants?  Remember: I WAS REALLY BEMUSED!!! no time to react until the man had completely dissapeared (without witnesses).

Hey, you can aim and fire things even though they're in your pants.
