Building a ship=possible
« on: November 28, 2008, 05:24:57 am »

If i was to build a wooden ship into the ocean and then break it off from the mainland would it float?

Or would the dwarves on it starves to death?

Or would it(Being on built one level above the bottom water level) fall apart?

Whose willing to test this?

Why am i asking so many questions?

BLABLABLA

NO.

(This: "..., it would fall apart and not float" [Cheeetar]).

...Unless it touches the bottom.

Oh yes and this:
I think with cave-ins off it will "float" so you might want to try it that way.

NO.
NO. BAD MIKKO.

Also, to your original question, it would fall apart and not float.

i think whit cave-ins off it will "float" so you migth try that way ... or just put a support below it ... but it won't float on the ordanary way (moving around with the ship ...)
dwarfs will still starve to death, but you migth survive (by purifyng water, fishing, and animal breading)

With cave-ins off... this is the best idea ever. You could live by fishing and purifying water. It might get a bit boring later due to shortages of rock and metals. (Possibly solved by getting some magma in to create obsidian on the boat.)

And putting in a goblin ports to make off with their womenfolk....wait.

You can't sail to goblin ports, and they don't have womenfolk.

I'm not sure which aspect of lack disturbs me more.

This is not the Goblin Fortress topic... THO WE NEED ANOTHER ONE MUFUFU

Oh yes and sailing would be awesome. Just that dwarves don't sail. They dig a tunnel under the ocean.

They have womenfolks, where do you think all of the little goblins come from?

Granted, all of the women are knife-wielding sycopathic maniacs with a penchant for murder, rape, sodomy, interspecies sex, insanity, and masochism; but really that label could fit dwarven women too if you replace 'knife' with axe.

This is an engraving of a dwarf and horses, the dwarf is embracing the horses.

A current bug makes it so that any structure built on a lake that can freeze will be able to float unsupported after winter ends.
