My Carpenter/Mason is constantly pestering my Farmer, and if I check my unit list, it says she is "Attending a Meeting". I need my Carpenter/Mason to build a floodgate for me.

EDIT: If it's important, her friend recently drowned while trying to kill a mountain goat.

Is your farmer the mayor/manager?

Are they friends?

Does the farmer have a high Consoler or other social skill?

The mayor uses his consoler skill to console sad dwarves, you see. This is reported as "attending a meeting".

Yeah. My farmer is also the mayor. It doesn't really look like their having a meeting. The farmer keeps working.

Meetings are low priority jobs, which is why your mayor would rather plant seeds than talk to a grieving dwarf.

Yeah, the sad dwarf is waiting for the mayor to be done farming so she can complain. I don't know how long she'll keep trying, but if sad dwarves treat these "meetings" the same way as fortress liasons treat theirs, she may well starve to death while waiting!

turn off the farming labor on your mayor for a minute and make sure he has an office.
