Dwarven Fertility Clinic
« on: November 27, 2008, 02:32:30 pm »

I'm rather fond of my current fortress as it gets a human and elven caravan each year, and about three goblin ambushes a season in addition to a constant stream of skeletal wildlife.

Nine years in, I've never seen a single migrant or dwarven caravan.

The population is down to 4, and one of them is female.  I turned off all labors for three of the dwarves (the 4th is constantly patrolling for goblins and skeletons) for a year hoping that she would go to parties and hook up with someone, but nobody in the fortress really cares about anything anymore and they don't seem interested in becoming more than friends.

Is there a flag I can set with Companion or somesuch to start churning out dwarf babies?

It COULD possibly be that there ARE no dwarves. Your dwarves are the first or last dwarves in the world. A way to check is to hit 'c' to check civilizations, if dwarves arn't there, you're boned...

The civ screen only shows civs you've met thus far

Good chance the dwarves are extinct. Also a good chance that female dwarf was married to one of the people you lost in your fort

It also shows your parent civ.

You could use Companion to turn two of the remaining three males female.

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.

Have you closed down the contraceptive workshop? Maybe start producing some silk bedsheets (and possible some silk ties for the four-poster bed if your dwarves are into that kind of thing?)  ;)

Migrursut proves it doesn't work that way. Only changes the text and symbol, everything else works as it used to.
