If it's the latest unaltered version fresh off the internet, the only thing I can think of is that for some reason the score file is being corrupted on those machines once your turn off the computer (???)

If you play, restart the machine and delete the score file, can you play it again?  I can't reproduce the error.

Oh!  I really don't know what'll happen if you change things.  Altering the colors on the bitmaps shouldn't matter and changing the sound files shouldn't either...  they just need the same file names and the pictures need to have the same dimensions.  Your new sound files can't be too large either.  If you have a fresh copy off the internet and make your changes one at a time, you can pinpoint where the problem is.

I'm not working on an update for WWI Medic right now, but I have been writing the plans for it down.  I have absolutely no idea when I'll get to it.

Yeah, I'm spending most of my programming time on a Moria simulator, where you play the dwarves digging out, working in and defending a mountain fortress.  There's quite a bit more than that, but I'm not going to spoil it.  It's still unabashedly Tolkien ass, but it'll be hard to pigeon-hole when it's done.  I've been having fun anyway, which is the only reason I do this.  It's also helping me work out some of the conceptual problems I've been having with Armok by seeing some of it actually function on a smaller scale.

So what kinda game is this dwarf thing?  It sounds really neato!  Text like LSC, sprites, etc?  Is it a strategy "tell-the-dwarves-what-to-do" or more like "control-a-dwarf-and-dig-holes" thing?  Any idea when we can expect it?

The boards sure are popular lately!  WWI medic and LCS seem to have outgrown Armok...

It's hard to categorize -- at first you'd call it a real-time strategy game, vaguely like a Dungeon Keeper with rogue-like graphics.  The game is in text to facilitate eventual release.  You start at a cliff face with, say, 7 dwarves of different professions and give them little commands and tell them what to build and so on, but as your population grows you'll be able to automate things a bit, and you start getting wrapped up in the events of the world around you.

I guess WWI Medic and LCS took off because of Underdogs, and they are there because they are the only half-decent projects I've finished.  The Armok forum isn't hopping because I haven't released a version for like a year -- I've really been in a funk with those items and projectiles (not to mention my thesis!), and I think the dwarf game will help get me out of it.  The current plan is to finish the dwarf game and follow it shortly after with the Armok Item release (and chase some LCS crash bugs during that process).

As for release dates, I don't know.  Certainly Not within a month.  I'm going to talk to my brother soon about the last section that hasn't been fully thought out, then the game will at least have its full specs and I'll be able to give reasonable estimates.  It already has more code written than what I posted for LCS.

Well, a great wolf just disemboweled one of my axemen and the goblin chieftain riding him knocked him four squares away trailing his intestines behind him.  He landed in the river, where he drowned in bloody water.  I guess that's something else besides unique, but I'm not sure anybody wanted to know.

Sounds good!

By rogue-like graphics, do you mean ASCII characters like nethack?

Yeah, it lets me churn out content without getting bogged down.  It would take forever to add new creatures, objects and buildings if I had to draw all of them.  I don't mind this sort of graphics at all.  Some people are put off by it, but I don't have an "art team" :)
