Future Weapons
« on: August 09, 2003, 03:17:00 pm »

As I take it the game is currently in a state where a lot of things get tested to see how they work.
I am aware that different settings for technology is currently in the "future" plan but I believe that experimenting never hurts    :D
And Im sure it would be a lot of fun too...

As far as I understand projectile weapons are about to get implemented in the next version.
Is this correct?
If it is then why not create some weapons like pistols,SMGs,rifles and energy weapons.
There are lots of possibilities...
And besides the game already seems to have light sabers    :D ,well sort of.

I would also like to mention that I would very much like the game to play in futuristic or at least contemporary setting.
And as I take it the game can have multiple settings, right?
While I sure do like LOTR and other similar fantasy settings I must admit that Im quite fed up with them as far as CRPGs are concerned.
Id like to play someone in the future or in our time.

I wouldn't mind putting those things in an optional file...  but as far as making Armok robustly technological, it would just be really hard.  Planes, cars, elevators, electric fans, computers...  Armok is basely savage just because it's simple and easy to program that way.  Once I do siege engines, I'll have an idea of what can and can't be quickly done or crudely approximated.  I'm not a fantasy purist or anything.  I have a partially written "cyberpunk" kind of RPG (I am up to the point where people graphically vomit when shot in the stomach by an M16, but anyway, it's barely started), and a corporate space empire game...  they're just going really slowly, mostly because they have graphics.  I also have a couple of larger scale curses projects underway, and one of those is set in roughly Renaissance Europe.  I think it'll have guns, and Satan.  The other one is unabashedly Tolkien-ass, but the game idea itself is new, I think.

Of course, right now, for the complete futuristic RPG experience, one can play Star Zoo.  Yeah.  Or Mutant Lab Escape.  He he he...  gutter...

Armok isn't moving fast right now because I have my oral exams next month.  I also have a conference in France to go to.  Ack!  I need longer days, dammit.

Maybe not a really futuristic setting, but something like Mad Max or Fallout would be interesting, it's not really that much above the 'savage' level either, just guns instead of swords   :p

Couldn't be too hard to fudge a couple of simple guns together. It'd only get really complex if you go into detail with all the meesy bits like cordite and making bullets spin properly...

I had a girl check out Armok over here, and she said she wanted boobs too.  I think that's a quorum!

Is this the next step towards anatomically correct Armok?

Anatomically correct in this case meaning a simulation where people cannot survive for hours after having their heart and lungs teleported from their body... <grinduckrun>

L. Frank Baum didn't have to take this kind of abuse...

The first I saw of Armok was when it was switchable between an ASCII display and some wierd, smudgy-looking isometricesque view.

You've come a long way, baby... baby Armok... er.. yeah.
