Can't say I'm particularly fond of Nintendo games...  Or any other japanese company's game, for that matter.

Nowadays, japanese gaming creativity just tends to annoy me more than anything else.  Unless it's sex-related.

Nobody's guessed my game quotes yet!  Come on, someone must have played that!

What? Beasts & Bumpkins? Yeah, I got stuck on the one level where you have to guide a single cow through a endlessly respawning TIDE of black wolves. IT CAN'T BE DONE!

You too?  Well, that makes me feel better.

Last time I played I saved the game just after fully neutralizing the enemy town.  Four seconds after the save a giant wasp or whatnot shredded the cow, rendering all my town-smashing useless.

I was trying to progress through the levels as quickly as possible so I could get to where they introduce cider-brewing...   I've never gotten that far.  *Sniff*.

Would've been great if they had a level-select otion that would let you play earlier levels.  There were quite a few I'd be happy to play over, but it won't let you...  It really needed to be more open as far as levels and such were concerned.  It could have even been a passable multiplayer game, but oh no, couldn't have anything that would make it live longer than it did.

I suppose EA is partly to blame.  They didn't do any marketing for it, so nobody knew about the game when it was released.  It was doomed to obscurity from the start, and the company never had a chance to make revisions.

I'd be satisfied for a option to just skip that one absurdly badly designed level so I can move on to managing a extremely unstable peasant population.

Is that what's next?  Damn, I spent so long looking for cheats to that game, just so I could keep going...  I never got past that one stinkin' level.

Depends, where did Toady live again?

"Silverdale, WA"
wherever that is... (my bet would be USA and then Washington-the-state).
which brings us to my point- you think amercians make the best games. The Internet brings people together, so it matters not where you really live.

I'd have to agree, America seems to make the best video games.  A lot of people would say Japan, but really, other than the occasional really innovative and cool game, most of them are essentially the same.  Linear RPGs and dynastic warfare.  American games tend to mix it up, and their RPGs tend to be much better and more varied.  Bioware alone could take on the entire Japanese RPG-fleet.

Yeh, but Black Isle is in Canada.  Baldur's Gate holds a certain amount of status in the RPG arena.

I once played a Chinese game, of all things.  I didn't think they even had game companies over there, but apparently they do.

Or did.  It was an old game.  One where you made wine out of pigs and corn, and where you could increase the loyalty/morale of your officers by giving them long and utterly pointless titles.

I don't have any preference per se, but japanese games stand out for me by being especially bad, which makes it that bit more un-understandable why so many people obsess about them. But people who do are often of a certain stereotype and they aren't only in bad taste regarding games, too.

But I'm from germany and I find most german games to be equally terrible, mostly because of terrible technical execution and 99th class voice acting, which lands them a close second to japanese games in my book. So much for being nationalistic.

Well, alright, so the voice acting and tecnhical execution is a bit off...  But the Myth of Fenris was still fun to play.  Until everyone starved.

I started playing using obsessive food-making.  Every wild mushroom I found would immediately have a fireplace next to it with the "roast mushroom caps" job set to infinite.  Farms were built extensively, hosting massive amounts of hamsters as they provide fewer byproducts than the mushrooms.  I focused absolutely everything on food production, and they were literally wading around in various roasts, stews, and other goodies. Almost like it is with dwarf fortress.
