Dwarves in tantrums trigger cage traps?
« on: November 23, 2008, 08:09:00 am »

My Gem Cutter couldn't find what he wanted, so he starts tear-assing through the fortress.

At least he tried to. He seems to have triggered a cage trap. Now I have a Dwarf Cage (feather tree).

this is becouse feather trees are evil, they come from the same lands as unicorns ... never trust things coming from those nice forests with bird song, and dwarf-hunting unicorns.

Mood failures result in insanity. Insane dwarves trigger traps

Not sure if they die in those cages. You could make an exhibit out of him

Wonder if dwarves can like dwarves for theri beards

Would, but I can't seem to do anything with the cage.

I like to think the other dwarves are pointing and laughing at him. I should leave him there as a harsh reminder.

Post a update on if he did starve in the cage or not when he has been there a while...

Could be a interesting way to deal with moody Dwarf-Children...

Sell him to the elves.

[i[Damn[/i] dude, ease off. It's not like he's a noble! Don't you know what they'll do to a dwarf in their mountain homes with their mouths so long and their guts so expanding?

Yes I'd be interested to hear the result of that too.  I know that ordinary dwarfs starve if they have the misfortune to be trapped, dwarfs who arrive with goblins don't starve though.  My guess is that the poor berserk guy will starve... betcha 10 dwarfbux.  :)

Sell him to the elves.

Sell him to the humans. The Elves don't deserve a perfectly good dwarf.

I've been meaning to do this with a dwarf that went crazy and chased a kitten into one of my mine shafts... I had a nearby hauler build a wall behind him, then built a cage trap, but it isn't loaded yet.

Caged dwarves are still effected by hunger and thirst.

The bug where ordering a caged animal to be sold at the depot causing instant release from the cage they are in makes it very hard to sell them as well. The reason you didn't see the cage is because you have another cage of the same material/decoration status. If you want to see his specific cage hit X when you are in the build cage menu and look for a dwarf cage there. You will be able to build it and let him out, provided he is still alive.

...

Don't look at me like that, I didn't try to make a fortress where most of the dwarves were sold back to the mountainhomes at exhorberant prices. No, seriously, stop looking!

i caught a marksdwarf that was leading a gobbo ambush. He lived as long as the fortress did, never got thirsty or anything.

i wasnt able to do anything with the cage other than to stockpile it, however. Couldnt even dump it. (into magma). The dwarf also didint show up on the Pit list, so i couldnt have him killed by a titan either.

It looked like the cage didnt exist basically, and the dwarf couldnt be taken out.
