I've decided to try my hand at a community fortress



If you want a dwarf then post with their name, profession and gender and I'll do my best to accomadate before I embark.

just be sure to be creative and active, no one likes a dead community fort.

Guess i'll take a spare male crafter/glassmaker. Glassmaking should be doable if that is indeed magma on that one tile.

Bio: Loves his alcohol. While growing up and thinking about what profession he should take on when he grows up, he decided that he should do something involving his passion (booze), and wound up choosing to be a brewer. He also learned some basic cooking skills.

Name: Strife (what a suprise)
Job: Soldier

Strife was born an aristocrat into a minor noble family. He hated the life. Wishing to help the common dwarf, he eventually left, intending to take up the blade to defend his kingdom (not that he has any want to rule more then a squad). He has a small bit of talking skills from his former life, and has also practiced a very little bit with the sword and crossbow. He's happy to do whatever is needed, but prefers physical work, such as mining.

(I can't remember what the limit is on skills, if possible)

It'd be cool if he liked cats as well or any type of armor.

Any special conditions for this fortress?

Just my own personal preferences and a few small modifications and additions

1. First 2-3 years there will be a cap at 30 to prevent to much insanity (Nobles) before I'm ready for it.
2. Making children grow up in 2 years
3. Addition of a new enemy civ which will hopefully present a problem to the dwarves

Looks like y'all could use a mechanic.  A mad, evil mechanic with crazy schemes (your excuse for crazy megaprojects)

Proffesion name:  Mad Scientist
Skills: initially, mechanics and siege engineering.  Later on, glass making, architecture, masonry, and siege operating.  Those seem appropriate for a mad scientist.

27th of Obsidian Year 4, Fireheart's Jounal

It seems we have a new enemy to worry about. Reports are coming in from most of the fortresses and towns nearby about the dead leaving their tombs and joining together. The nobles have decided to send me out to build an outpost in the Held Mire to protect the Mountainhomes from this new menace.
Thankfully they let me choose the 6 dwarves who would be joining me. Its an interesting group.

First is myself. Leader and fairly skilled miner.


Frea is our cook and brewer.


Next is Josh. For some reason the other crafters have given him the name Chaotic. I worry about that but hes a good craftsman.


Kyterra is our blacksmith.


Shoruke is the one n charge of the seeds and farming operations.


Strife was a great find. He just joined the ranks of the military and decided that fighting undead would be a good way to make a name for himself.


Our last member is Legolord. He is known for being a Mad Scientist but that could work for us.


The wagon is loaded with enough food, booze and wood to get us started.

The others are waking up so its time to break camp and cover the last few miles to the Mire.

OOC: Flint and Gaweir will be added in the first batch of immigrants along with any others who join
