Alright, Strife shall be number two, your spot is reserved. And yeah, as Duke said, keep them around par with the rest of the characters, maybe slightly more powerful, or less. Or much more powerful, but then put in an equal but opposite disadvantage. And "Is really annoying" doesn't count :P

Also, you don't really "need" to look through the rest of the posts, as you've apparently been in this prison cell, and thus wouldn't know what happened to them, but you can if you like! Otherwise, just looking at the status, and the current stats on the first post is all that's really needed, if anything.

And Golgath, your character is perfect! We really could use some more non-humans, and yours fits the bill.

Once I get Strife's character, I'll update the status with the new characters. It is unlikely that I'll get the next turn up by tonight, as although it isn't very late, it will still take me a while to make it. So Strife, no worries about a due date with the character, although before the end of tomorrow would be nice :)

Okay, one more quick question, how do the starting skills work again? If my character is balanced, I get two per category, right?

Good to know that I didn't make any (major?) mistakes.  Anyway, now that I know about my situation a bit more..  Well, I'll snoop around the cell looking for a way to break out, weaknesses, that sort of thing.  Communication with others if I have no luck, that sort of thing.  Since I'm pretty sure I won't be able to log on for around a week, feel free to decide my actions.  My character will be mostly interested in escaping.  He'd rather not bring the whole place down on his head, so he'll want to get out with as little fighting as possible.  If others escape around the same time as him, or he is released by the group, he will travel with them and try to protect them if possible.  Finally, if he breaks out on his own, he will release anyone who seems friendly or capable of providing a distraction for his escape.  If he has to deal with someone who is injured (I.E. Xix) he will try to help them if possible, and prevent their further injury until help arrives.  If forced to defend them, he will stick with them to the end, unless it would be possible for them to both escape.

Sorry about the long post, but I'm trying to give you an idea of how my character should act while I'm gone.  I'm leaving tomorrow morning, so I gotta make sure this is all down.

Yep. If you pick two areas rather than all three, you get 2 good and 1 great in each, plus 1 good in the other area. Specialize in only one area, and you get 3 good, 2 great in it, and 1 good in both the others.

Then, if you don't choose balanced, you can choose a skill in one of the areas you aren't good at, make it bad, and thus have an extra good, upgrade one good to great, or upgrade one great to superb. And if you really want to, you can make the bad to horrible, and get another bonus.

The only reason I repeat that is because having a post with just "Yep." seemed far too short.

And thanks Golgath, that helps quite a large amount! However, I just want to ask, if somehow you end up with nothing to do, and Xix has no list entry for you, what would you do? Practice fighting, do some sort of skill like WorkerDrone (Gaweir), etc.?

Assisting the other players in general, but if no one else was doing anything, he'd likely try to pick some plants for food, help tend the injuries of others, other more survivalist stuff.  If neither of those are possible, he will practice his unarmed combat skills or fast movement skills.

EDIT: Also, something to clear up about his eating habits: He won't have any qualms about devouring his enemies or anything, and he isn't particularly pacifistic..  He will always try to kill his enemies unless there is a pressing reason for him to only disable them.

Not to try to get elitist or keep someone out of the game or so, but is it really fair that somone who is going to be away a week first thing is getting the spot someone else might have wanted just because of being some hour faster in posting?
I say we let maybe 5-6 people make profile, and then Valios chose those that make the story the most interesting.
Unless the new chars are NEEDED THIS VERY TURN, rather than there simply being room for them, in which case I suppose we have less an option of being choosy.
Also, maybe I've just forgotten the numbers but Golgaths char seems closer to underpowered than overpowered and not very fleshed out, list the personality numbers and a list of 20 personal quirks and it's more worthy of our glorious GM.

Look, Armok, I see your point, but I've been watching and hoping to join this for a while..  It's not like my character is going to sit there, staring blankly the entire time.  It's unfortunate that the time to join is right when this is happening, but I don't think I should be totally written off because of it.

EDIT: On a less combative note, taking a look at strife's profile, I think I'll add something to my character.

That is a good point you make Armok, and what with it being the holidays, other people who may have wished to join might be gone. However, the rules were as they were when Golgath and Strife posted, and I'd feel awful by kicking them out after they were pretty much guaranteed a spot. However, I think I'll add in two more dungeon spots, which will go in your manner, to give those others a chance.

So, two new spots are open, once again! However, you can't reserve a post for this time; instead, enter in your character, I'll tell you if it's alright or not, correct if needed, and within a week or so, if we have more than two more, I'll pick the two that will best go into the story.

That alright with you, Armok? The next two joiners will join in during whatever turn comes up in a week, so we'll continue with our current 6, Golgath, and Strife, and then add in the next two after a week.

And finally, Strife, that character will work perfectly! As Armok was saying, personality has become a good thing to add in, to have a well fleshed out character that acts as you believe it should, so feel free to, at any time, add in such quirks.

Why would they let Strife keep his trench coat if he were captured?

Believe me Vaiolis, burning out on a forum game isn't any fun. You might even be tempted to claim "I'll work on it eventually" while never thinking about it. It makes one feel terribly guilty. So . . . ummmmm, if you need help Vaiolis, just ask, don't overwork yourself!
Good advice for life actually.

I'm curious Duke, was it my character you wanted to link TV tropes for? What pages could work for Strife?

EDIT: I hope that no one would try to foricbly take Strife's coat away. That could get messy.

Shouldn't be too bad. It will take longer, yes, but I think I'll be fine. I planned on getting at least 10 anyways, at some point or another. It may result in turns that take an extra day to get up, but with the usual speed it shouldn't be much of an extended delay. The larger battles might be a bit more extensive though, but that's all in good fun :)

Also, to answer Webadict, nobody will have anything but clothes to start, and only basic clothes, thus trench coats, etc will be removed. The people who took them there most likely took their items and stored them somewhere, thus I do need to know what items they would normally have. But yeah, in the cell, you'll have naught but your clothes!

And if I ever need help, I'll be sure to ask. We've gotten far too deep into it to be slowed to a stop from being overworked!
