skull totems

is there a way to mod skull totems so you can build them like statues?

seams like a better use for them than selling them

Unfortunately no.  Buildings and buildable items are all hardcoded at the moment, and probably will be in the next version as well.

dang well i hope they can be in the next version would love to have my main road lined with them

You can kind of accomplish this by making stockpiles that only accept totems.  They'll just be items sitting on the ground, not buildings, but that might be good enough.

I remember seeing something like this a while back. I wish there was a way to make something like that too. I hope Toady finishes with the whole .raw injection soon...

 Make a smelter reaction to make skulls into a stone named skull, then use masonry to make a statue. Made of skulls.

Then it'd be a skull statue, not a skull totem.
I want to see skull totems (buildings) made of various numbers of skull totem pieces (what is known now as a skull totem)
You know, an actual TOTEM, perhaps?
Hmm..  seems like the word skull looks so wrong, but yet it's correct...

Agreeing with the chair and pyramid ideas. I want my above ground fortress to grow for every enemy I kill. I want a bone castle. All dwarves have their bones removed on death and the remains liquefied and fed to the survivors.

It's people. Dwarf cheese is made out of people.

You can mod in a smelter reaction to make blocks out of bones.

I built an entire fortress out of those things.  :D

You can build any constructions or buildings out of them, but the masonry workshop, for semi-obvious reasons, won't accept them.  I haven't tried anything with skulls, or making a statue, though.
