B-BAAAAAAALLLLLSSSSSS
« on: February 04, 2008, 05:29:00 am »

In case anyone missed it, a few weeks ago saw the full release of one of the finest indie games of 2008, Charles Barkley's Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. Part One of the Hoopz Barkley Saga, SU&J:G is an epic RPG about a post-cyperpocolyptic future where slamming and jamming are outlawed, and crime runs rampant through the decaying city of Neo New York.

Features:
- over FIVE HOURS of gameplay
- the first indie game to fully utilize DirectX10!
- fully playable in both English and Al Bhed!
- b-ball!

Don't take it from me, check the link for more information, and download this epic masterpiece today!

(Warning: Contains coarse language, verboten jams, and b-ball)

Shut Up and Jam!

The idea is so bad that the game can be nothing but good...

No spam, just a small ad for a game that I, personally, enjoyed a great deal. Is it so wrong to share this game with others, as I'm certain you would DF? Besides, it's not like this is the only thread linking to other games, even if this one IS single-player...

And it's not like I'm trying to sell you anything.

Anyway, has anyone else played the game already? High points, low points, general discussion goes here?

I downloaded this, not quite sure what I was in for. What I found can only be described in heavily punctuated capital letters.

BEST. NON. BAY. TWELVE. GAME. EVER. AND. I. AM. COMPLETELY. ONE HUNDRED. PERCENT. SERIOUS. ABOUT. THIS. DOWNLOAD IT. PLAY IT. LOVE IT.
(well, maybe not quite "best" but certainly "most awesomest"

The setting is genius and horrifically grim, the writing is great, the graphics are passable (for a DX10 game at least), you battle alongside a Cyberdwarf and CB:JSUAJ:G features the most inspired party combat mechanics I have ever seen!
If anything deserves a few hours of your time, it's this!

It won't run on my machine.  Or rather, it runs, but the background layer doesn't display.  Sprites are fine but I can't actually see, oh, rooms, streets, etc.

My machine's only like six years old, drivers are updated, commercial games work fine...

you need directX 10 (which is extremely unreasonable, considerin this game could have been made 10 years ago from the looks).

also, I haven't played much, but it's pretty cool, though somewhat absurdist (which could be a good thing or a bad thing, but it's well done).

your face is wrong!  ;)

seriously though, which part of that statement you are disagreeing with? it needing dX10 or the fact that that level of graphics could have been achieved in 1998?

It needs DX10? So it only runs on Vista?

The game doesn't need Dx(anything).
