Why does everyone say they are reptiles?  The only kobolds I have ever seen in anything are small, light brown fuzzy dog things.

They're reptiles in some games, "fuzzy dog things" in others. They are, in particular, reptiles in D&D.

Anyways, on topic fully:

Just because they arent what you want/expect out of them doesnt mean that you have the right to tell someone that they are making a bad representation.

If someone cant figure out that it might not be what they always thought it would be when placed into someone else's mind, then they need to find out quickly.  So if someone is scared of kobolds, they'll have great practice with that when all that happens is their stuff is stolen when they refuse to kill the kobolds going after their artifacts due to fear of magical doomsday.
