Failure to Recover Wounded (Solution)
« on: November 19, 2008, 12:02:17 pm »

I did a search of the forum and only found this mentioned in one or two places a while back, so I figured I should start a new thread.

Every now and then a dwarf will get injured in combat - no big deal, right? But the job to recover them will get cancelled (usually for the same reason they were injured in the first place, a goblin hanging around there) and no new job is spawned, even though you have 30+ idle dwarves.

Well I did find out the solution, strange as it may seem. You have to actually tell the INJURED DWARF to "Activate/Deactivate", to reset their jobs and make them remember "oh yeah I need to be rescued!". It should spawn a new Recover Wounded job after that.

Strange but true.

So there's that, as well. It looks like the only chronic problems that water can't cure are nausea and cave spider bites.
Which, coincidentally enough, can be cured by magma.

I've never experienced this myself, but other people have complained a lot about it.

Good find!

MyLittlePonyBuiltMyHotRod, this is your first warning. I would like to direct you to read our forum's FAQ and posting guidelines before posting again. Specifically we don't use swear words here, and your picture of Stalin riding a Year3 Limited Edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp was both upsetting and historically inaccurate.

Also the recruit/unrecruit fails sometimes. It seems to work for me about 3/4 of the time, but sometimes it doesn't.

Does that work well for non-military dwarves who get injured? I've had them sitting around with no one to rescue them way more often then my military dwarves.

Seems to, yes. They'll get an unhappy thought from being drafted, but its better than having them starve to death.
