Spring:
This has got to be the worst day ever! Finally I had gotten out of my family’s house and set out for a new place to call home and a place to make some soap. But no not only am I reduced to carpentry and masonry but now I get to lead!
I was minding my own business walking down the hall when the leader spots me. He shouts “yourtheleadernowbyihaveapartytoattend” and runs off.
I took a look around and you know what? We have a weak mining operation going on and being a dwarf through and through can’t help but realize “hey soaps fun but as boss I could mine instead!” so I will.
The microline bridge that does nothing is being temporally removed. Now with it gone I have dug channels to make a better foe keeper outer system.
Our water troubles are at an end for Skid has found us a wonderful danger ridden underground pool!
The pool was almost our DOOM! (Or at least the doom of the lower levels) luckily Kulet was able to build a wall as he fled and blocked the water that he had inadvertently released.
Darn kobolds the elves come and what do you know right after an outbreak of the vermin (though I don’t even know myself if I mean the elves or the kobolds). What is has done was bring my attention to the fact we lack any sort of military!!! ARE WE NOT DWARVES!!!
Horrors! Another noble came. This time it’s the dungeon master.
Oh my what an artifact:
Ishlumbiban, “NutsBalls”, a Quartzite bracelet
This is a Quartzite bracelet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encrusted with Quartzite and Tetrahedrite and decorated with elk leather. This object is adorned with hanging rings of Ruby and menaced with spikes of hoary marmot bone and elk leather,
Heh NutsBalls heheh
Summer:
Sigh rooms for the current noble are on there way and I have started the tombs. The only consolation I get from all this is out of the current nobles and past leaders ~I~ have the biggest tomb
Hurrah our defenses are increased. I have replaced the outer wall with fortifications so we can shoot out and in front of the outer bridge I placed many a cage traps.
Truly today is a good day! All the nobles need now are their tombs and everything’s all squared away.
The horror! Goblins with crossbows ambush and I lose 1 regular dwarf and 3 or so elite wrestlers with more injured!! Truly the!! World!!
Hurray 3 champions one right after another
Finally the entrance traps are done and there are 8 champions! As a side not to myself and future leaders elves are picky and when they came in spring I accidentally offered wood along with various things like elf leather and such so of course it’s the wood they get upset about so I confiscate their stuff. Hope they don’t attack us yet.
Luck finally was on my side. Everyone knows that goblins don’t care about you unless you have enough people to take from and we squeaked under their nose with this immigration that put us at 76 dwarves in all.
The tombs are almost done just need some decoration and some engraving. Also for this report I say happily that the exploratory mining on the lowest level we dare go is proceeding ahead of schedule.
We have struck Native Platinum! To commemorate this I will have platinum statues added to my tomb seeing as I found it and such along with buying the anvil that made it all possible!
Autumn:
Autumn has come and my time is half spent. But at least my well is done! Using the underground lake, a windmill, a screw pump, and some industrious tunneling I have created a well that will not require any physical work to be done!
Ah more human traders are here. Last time I cleared them out of everything because of the fact we have 2 legendary stoneworkers putting out trinkets and cups and such at an alarming rate and quality.
Stupid goblins ambushing my champions as they where patrolling and then another group tries to ambush the traders without any ranged weapons! It most certainly did not work.
Yah for legendary stonecrafters! I am buying the whole caravan almost for stuff like cups! You make cups at 3 to 1 so for every stone I get 3 cups and this means a single stone is worth over 100 monies in the hands of my crafters!
Why do the snatchers only come one at a time! Honestly and to bump into the hunter with a crossbow? These creatures should be destroyed and would be to I believe if only it were not for the fact that they breed like cats! For the first time since I took control the upper refuse pile is filling up.
Haha now no goblin archer no matter how good will have line of sight with people in the trade depot area! I have built strategic walls just for this and now while it can be easily reached the front entrance has no straight line into the fort.
Yes the exploratory mining is going right on schedule! Truly we shall find all there is on the bottom level or die trying. On a side not I am having catapults made and people to use them trained to help with the local wildlife and slight goblin problem after all while some people might say there is nothing worth using a siege weapon on, I say what isn’t a worth shooting with a siege weapon! Ha small-minded people it’s not “just” a matter of killing them! It’s a matter of Totally destroying them so they will never come back!! (And really those kobold thieves run fast)
Also in matter of convenience I have made a big stockpile for armor, weapons, and ammo attached to the now expanded barracks.
Winter:
THREE Goblin ambushes! At Once!! Two dwarves died but lucky us we caught a number of them in cages so once I create an arena there will be fights already lined up. Also with the way the fight went I decided to make the catapults safer so that a goblin wont come within sight scaring away the chicken like siege operators.
Today Edem one of our many engravers made our first masterpiece engraving! It depicted Flyingdwarf when he ascended to leadership.
Not much happening in the winter mostly just routine stuff. Decide to make my tomb have my emblem for my nickname. A Z with an A in it with a K in the A spelling ZAK the one and only true way to spell it from my point of view for I AM the one and only TRUE ZAK!
Still not much going on. At least this place hasn’t had any animal problems while I have been in control. This is probably because of that lake full of creatures but I don’t care really.
Yah someone went into one of those “Moods” and he has a fey look to him. Also even better is he is not important so if he goes insane its not that bad!
Sadly I will not see what comes of this because spring has arrived and I have noticing a total lack of any kind of sheriff or such have taken the position and have an iron armor stand and an iron weapon rack being made for my room as we speak to commemorate the event.
NOTES:
I made a channel all around the above ground area of the hold. This will keep surprises from that direction down and keep the catapult operators safe during attack.
There is a “Mood”y dwarf with the fey type of mood.
On the level that has a little bit of mining done on it with now smoothing there is a wall made in a hallway all the way to the left. DO NOT DESTROY THE WALL!!! It holds back the underground lakes water from flooding out.
I have the whole bottom z-level designated in such a way as to make all the squares visible. This with the current workers will not take all that long but just so you know incase you want any mining done.
There are a few spine and head injuries within the military. Sadly they will probably only be good for crossbows. On the bright side they will be using crossbows
. They are not set to train with it because most are still hurt and in bed.
The next person to take over will have to make their own tomb and room. Please leave the past leaders rooms alone after all you’ll have one to and do you really want it messed with?
There is an iron armor stand and an iron weapon rack that are in the orders to be made. When they are put them in my room because the caption of the guard position requires it.
There are a few vacant beds but the next immigration will need more in the most likelihood.
Also the next immigration will push us over 80 pop. So we will be seiged, most likely within the next year.
The lever in the room with the justice cages opens the cage in front of all the cage traps. The cage contains a war dog. This is for detection and defense.
The well in the main complex that is walled in is dried up and is to tedious and time consuming to fill up. There is one a way to the left that as long as there is the underground lake will have water.
There is a lot of engraving being done but there does not have to be. If you need one of the engravers though please take a less skilled one.
The cages with the g’s in them have goblins. There are 12 of them so have fun.
Dead dwarves go under the inside bridge where the first one died.
Build weapon traps if you want to be safe and not worry about invaders. The way I have it set up is so ambushes are taken care and if a megabeast comes wondering by. THEY WILL NOT STOP A SIEGE!!! If you cant take a siege raise the outer bridge and blast away with the catapults that because of the small area can reach anywhere. Weapon traps as long as you have a few in a choke point will kill a small siege hands down.
WE ARE RICH$$$$$$ a stone worth 3 monies is turned into 3 mugs by one of the legendary stoneworkers at either masterpiece level or the level just below that. The lower of the two levels will be a mug worth 50 monies so you get a net of around 147 monies! The masterpiece ones are about 120 each netting 357. The only problem is not enough bins and space to store it all. It takes forever to get it all to the trade depot.
begining of my turn
