Well, if people want to bet on the race winners, and you want to allow them to make serious ☼ for it, then you have to make odds, or something such (for example, giving 50-50 odds on everything would be strange). You have a lot to handle with the actual races themselves (it took me five times to spell that), could I handle all betting? For example, if I'd get 2000 DB to start with, and any spectators got some starting amount, I could actually handle bets and stuff. That way, spectators, and racers, would have a way of making (or losing) money. I'd have the problem of possibly running out, but hey, it'd be fun!

Hmm... It was going to be much more simple than that, however I was concerned about misbalance.Your method would work well I'd think.

Very well!
You got full control over the spectator aspect.
Remember that Inaluct has 300 on Boski.

Everyone's odds should be roughly equal until some people start winning races.

That said, I put 200 monies on Akroma. How much do I start out with?

Yay! Thanks Shadow!

Okay folks, here are the current odds for our racers!

Strife Funds (can't break this):
2000

Odds for all racers are
1 in 6 right now.
If you bet 100 on the winner, I pay out 600 (unfourtunatly, I can't give more acurate odds, as I might go bankrupt).

Current bets:
Penguin => 200 on Akroma at 1 to 6 odds (possible 1200 payoff)

Inaluct => 300 on Boski at 1 to 6 odds (possible 1800 payoff)

I can accept bets of under 300 for any racer that is not currently betted on, and will probably accept other bets if asked (I'll determine the odds).

Now remember, monetary values go in 50s,so no 25 betting or 75 or any of that.

I have an idea:
If there are empty spots at the start of a race, people without a working vehicle can go on foot, for -2 speed, -2 defense, and +4 staying-on-the-road.

That way, early bankrupcy is not the end.

Also, you could allow bankrupt players to take a "job" as maintenance at 50☼ per race, preventing them from just joining again from the basic start(they had their chance...)

They could sell all of their stuff at %50 pity value to help pay for the new frame.

Or, they could simply be kicked from the game, optionally permanently.

Maybe a waiting list?

Peeps can get back in after a reasonable amount of time(determined by me) waiting for others to fill the slot.

Those that lost at this (and get in)get the standard beginners package.

(this way I don't have to manage hoards of hobos running around)

But hobo hoards are FUN(losing(the racers losing, mostly(a spectator might lose an eye, or some dignity, but not as bad as a dragon)) type of fun(death to all)).

You had better add them as a possible enviromental hazard.

Be aware, the first turn is going to be a bit badly narrated,I didn't set it up
properly and this is a copy-paste from a txt. document.

Turn 1!

a=custom action roll
c=cornering roll
s=speed roll

>>>Banzayatc

I grab a henchdwarf of one of nearby racers and throw him into the furnace. more fuel (especially filled with booze) = more speed.

a5 (+1 extra s)
c4+1=5
s4+3=6 (-1 muskox prevention)
(muskoxen avoidence=2-1=1)
(damage?=1+1=2)
(you feel a *thump*,damage to suspension,-1 cornering)
(rolls for unlucky dwarf(furnaced!),Kashyyk=1<-)

>>>Poltifar

I remove a random gear from somewhere in my vehicle and throe it out of the window, hoping it will hit some poor other racer, or atleast a bystander :P

a1 ('Rumble',that can't be good)(What were you thinking?!)(INSTA CRASH)
(damage?=4+1=5,no damage)

Just continue with actions as normal, you'll start same square next turn.

>>>Boksi

I ram Kashyyk back!

I am of course driving aggressively.

Aggressive mode

a2+1=3 (muskoxen are too distracting)
c2-1 (goes off course)
(Crash avoid?=5)(JUMP)
s5+3=6 (-1 muskox prevention)
(muskoxen avoidence=6-1=5)

>>>Aqizzar

Well in that case, order both of my henchdwarves to pump for all they're worth, as I drive aggressively to get the hell out of there.  Should have like +3 Speed from that, maybe more if the dwarves are terrified of being thrown in furnaces*.

Aggressive mode.

a5 (+1 extra s)
c3-1=2 (off course)
(Crash avoid?=5)
s6+4=6(oh yeah,-1 muskox prevention)
(muskoxen avoidence=6-1=5)

>>>Akroma

I use the auto-attack of my boars to attack aquizzar

a6 (+1 to hit)
(hit chance=4+1)
(Aqizzar armor?=6,no damage)
c4+2=6
s4+1=5
(Muskoxen avoidence=3,just managed)

>>>Kashyyk

Aggresive driving and use my boars auto attack Boksi while ramming him!!!!

Aggressive mode.

a2 (muskoxen are in the way, boars do not attack)
a6
(Boski armor?=4)
c3+1=4
s4+1=5
(Muskoxen avoidence=5)

>>>Cheeetar

I slow down slightly and go into the lane behind Boksi, and order my cats to race over it so my vehicle will ride over it, like a tank. Driven by cats.

Cautious mode

a6 (Double damage rolls +1 to teh kittehs!)
(Boski's armor(katz)?=6)
(Boski's armor(steamroll)?=5)
c5+3=6
s5-1=4
(Muskoxen avoidence=4)

>>>Zako

AGGRESSIVE DRIVING!! CHARGE!!

My boars automatically attack Cheeetar! Squeeeee!

Aggressive mode

a4
(Cheeetar's armor?=4+1=5)
c5+1=6
s6+1=6 (-1 muskox prevention)
(Muskoxen avoidence=3+1=4)

>>>qwertyuiopas

Evasive rush forward.(avoid any major damage while trying to get to the end)

a6 (+1 cornering +1 speed)
c4+3=6
s1+2=3 (didn't even get past the square)

>>>Pandarsenic

Drive forward. Recklessly. With no regard for "safe" speeds.

Aggressive mode

a4 (Not much effect)
(Boar random attack!=Banzayatc!)
(Banzayatc armor?=5)
c6+1=6
s6+2=6 (-1 Muskoxen avoidence)
(Muskoxen avoidence=1-1=0(ok 1)
(damage?=2+1=3)
(Your vehicle shakes violently, but no damage)

Encounter roll=6(pickup-250 db)

S!_+_ _ _

Muskoxen
250 db

Would you have let someone sell their starting chassis and walk around with a laser? Just asking.

There is no 'walking around',you MUST compete in a car!

(Sorry if that looks snappy,I have a slightly enthusiastic typing style with rules I guess.)

I rush forwards, putting as much as I can into speed(even to the point of helping pump myself, if I have to, taking breaks for steering)

I want to see if I can complete the whole race next turn(okay, I know it is impossible... but it is still what I want to do...)
