Intense action....
« on: May 25, 2008, 08:19:00 pm »

http://www.learn4good.com/games/action/bakeries.htm

This game is crazy.  The action is intense, probably hundreds of hours of gameplay to be had here.  You have to play this one if you are a fan of action games.  Check it out and leave your comments.

I'm writing this before I click the link in the full expectation that your description is total bullshit (be it sarcasm or deliberate misdirection).

EDIT:  Well, you got me.  Boy was I wrong.

How incredibly boring and repetitive.

So was this posted for the sole purpose of demonstrating that yes, you can be sarcastic?

It was posted because I found the game to be completely uninspired and boring. It has no redeeming value, and whilst yes, I agree that the gameplay therein can be addictive and certainly challenging, as a game it brings nothing more to the genre or medium other than the Smurf theme, which doesn't hold any appeal to me whatsoever.

It's the Halo 3 of webgames, essentially. Solid foundations, solidly implemented, but ultimately completely average and entirely unoriginal.

I don't have to like everything, you know   ;)

No no, Das- I agree.  I was talking about this thread, the remark being directed at Berent.  I really can't see why it was posted at all- as I posted before, it seems to be either sarcasm or misdirection.

If the latter, it's something of an insult to the audience's intelligence, as my initial response pretty much shows; it's not like the URL looks like anything other than a basic game for very young children with a mundane subject.

Which is why I'm assuming it's the former- in which case it seems like an arbitrary attack on unassuming children's enertainment.  It's not like it's even remarkably bad by the standards of the internet, nor claiming to be particularly exciting.  So yeah.  Way to demonstrate the ability to use basic sarcasm.  We're all suitably awed and thrilled at this demonstration of petty picking on people.

Ah, my apologies then. I think I3erent's behaviour has taken a real dive these past few days, ever since someone called him out about being 27 and still acting like a child in a General Discussion thread the other day.

Plus, he made a Smurf Mod for DF. Anyone who feels the need to have more Smurfs in their life is obviously unbalanced in some way   ;)

That quote in your sig.  Nineteen Eighty-Four?  It sounds familiar.

Dude I posted this because it was challenging and mildy addictive, plus it had smurfs, thats a bonus.  You guys dont have to go into attack mode on sight.  I just figured someone may be amused by the game for a bit thats all.

Aye, my favourite book. Another of my favourite quotes is "You are a difficult case. But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you."

It's a book that goes painfully unread by the people who need to read it the most.

Ah.  So you were totally serious about being into a game aimed at seven-year-olds.  That explains it.  My bad.

Indeed.  And proof that something doesn't have to be enjoyed to be great.

Very true. It pains me to have to explain to everyone that entertainment and quality are two very different things. Just because something's fun doesn't mean it's good. Take the new Indiana Jones movie, for instance. An enjoyable movie, but painfully average.

Yes, and 1984 is always the example I find myself using to explain that something was very good but I don't want to read/watch it again.
