I'm not sure (it may have been me, since I downloaded a realistic effects mod) but I built an igloo in a volcanic area (The Chasm) and it melted..

Igloos are not the ice material.
Igloos are specially coded to melt in heat.
The ice material, what water freezes into, nothing more, nothing less, is what I was talking about.


Game up:  Not anymore.  Endgame map below.
M: Chaos Battalion (IE Jay Mod - the map name was suggested by a friend almost four years ago)

Although, the only people that could join anyway, because of the mods, are B12ers or my friends, it would cause lag when it reaches the connection prompt, at which time it fails because of missing dependencies, so I put the password on there, as it stops them at the master server.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

Out of curiosity, why did you opt to make Chaos Battalion such a massive map?  I'm sure you could've gotten by with mayhem on a slightly smaller palette, and most of that space is never really used.

Funny happenings: I finally created the automation I have always wanted: a sawmill that dumps directly into a power plant.

Neat bonus: The power plant appears to only activate when there is a deficiency of power, such as when the two backup windmills aren't running quickly.
(one poweres the lift and pump, the other the lift and sawmill. The lift is most critical.)

You mean all that black on the top?  That's the sky.  Oil is a slightly grayer color.

Oh, that space gets used.
Maybe not when you were here.
We do some hella-complicated stuff sometimes.

Also, it scales based on playercount.
2500 horizontal per player.

Jaybud4, that is an awesomely large map heh, but then I don't know how many people were playing on it (hard to get an idea of how wide that screenshot is, to factor in your 2,500 per player horizontal). The trees I scripted could become a bit CPU thirsty if there were enough of them, but generally we'd be talking several hundred by the time it became a problem. But I can well imagine that anything that's a little more intense on the simulation would cause the game to cry with a map that big, especially something like ice reactions!

I'll keep an eye on this thread for the next time you have a game going and might join you if I have time (and there's room) :)

You generally need his mod though, just find a link 2 or less pages back.
