I've redone the last month of my game. Stuff mostly worked out the same, but we got a fey armorer in training at the end. YEEHAW!

It's not in the save, but i played ahead a bit after saving, and it does work. The seige was gone by the seventeenth of granite.

I can only summarize this up by saying  :(.  Unless this means we actually HAVE this stuff on our map, which the likely of that happening is silch to nadda.

I told him to make 10 sets of heavy armor and 10 iron short swords, I also hired 7 swordsdwarves or something.  He did finish all of them in Summer, but I still didn't underuse him that much!
