First of all, worldgen/RNG languages. enough said. Of course, a way to control what sounds get used (I can tell what names are goblin vs elf due to the general feel of the languages) would be needed.

Second - dialects. Nearby dialects would vary slightly; whenever a word is found that varies too severely from the one your character speaks it's presented in conversation untranslated.

Some kind of game mechanic for learning new languages, and make sure that important NPCs and/or you speak multiple languages so that you can get quests and such.
