What's so bad about hotmail? I've never seen ... anything else.

There, I think I see the problem...

If I wanted to recreate the world of one of my favorite stories, I should be able to specify that there is a civilization called Groan, ruled by Earls from a castle called Gormanghast.
You won't have trouble supplying the Countess with cats, or producing the annual idols to be offerred to the castle. Every fortress is a pale reflection of Ghormenghast..

Gmail allows over 2GB of space per account.
And it allows access to a metric fuckload of other features.
The only thing having a hotmail account gets you is MSN Messenger.

...Hotmail still exists?

Is anyone else reminded of Stephen Colbert's painting of himself including a painting of himself wherein one can see another painting of himself?

Toady, how much of DF is inspired by Labyrinth? Is Armok actually David Bowie? Because that would simultaneously be disturbing and awesome.

Yes. Particularly when he applied the Peabody sticker-thing so it would be recursive too.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

My extremely free Hotmail account has five gigabytes of space. And I don't WANT any extra features, I just want an email address. Serves my needs just fine.

So that 2GB almost matters since neither of us is actually using a % of the space available? My point was that Hotmail isn't as crappy as it was made out to be here.

EDIT: Not to mention I never even said Gmail had a "mere" 2GB space.

The sad thing is, as ludicrous as M$ charging for Hotmail may be, knowing them it's plausible. They did make Vista. And XP. And a game console that ate the discs if you tried to play them. And another that stops working once a month. And Win98. And Win95.

I could go on, since pretty much every product was inferior to something a child could write in BASIC.

But they have a kick-ass marketing department.
