On the black screen before a game starts when you see the import world text on top my game suddenly crashes. It continues to do this and I'm not sure how to stop it. I recently(tonight)put DF on my desktop which runs vista. I now can no longer start games. The error code and information follows:

There's your problem, mate. Hate to sound like a douche but it seems that the system's faults are uncannily reliable.

Vista is a wonderous neverland of mysterious issues, but I have yet to have actual problems running DF on it.

Don't worry, you do.

Running Vista DF with 200 dwarfs and no problem. Also, running Vista both on a laptop and a PC, running both x86 and x64, again with no problems whatsoever.

When you say import world, do you mean world gen? Or loading a world?

If it crashes upon loading a particular world consistently, it's likely that there's a glitch in the save file. If it crashes on generating a world, you might again be missing a file, or there may be some problem with the specifics of the settings you're using.

Nevermind that, I fixed it: the files thing was right, I needed to reedit the raws instead of copying the ones from another computer. Now the problem is that it crashes just before the caravan is about to come in Autumn, every time.

Do you get a nemesis unit load error or something?  That one means corrupted save files.

No it just spontaneously crashes before the caravan comes... I don't see a nemesis error...
