I wonder how many of the people against bearded dwarven women (wodwarves?) feel that way mostly because they can't imagine themselves being attracted to such a thing.

A reasonable stance when talking about fantasy races that are basically humans with a new hat

It's simple:
Total dwarven mass = Beard length * Body mass
Science solves everything people! Increasing one value decreases the other and vice versa, it explains why dwarves are shorter than humans.

If female dwarves didn't have beards they'd be big tubs of lard. No one would have nookie with them and the dwarves would die out, so we can only assume they have beards.

Science would never lie to you. It has no reason to. Now go back to your average lives of serving the government.

I have made a flowchart which I hope will define the crux of this argument.

That is a nice, simple, elegant flowchart right there. Or maybe a =<<*Flowchart*>>=. It could be a better flowchart, but that would require extensive photoshopping, a marketing campaign, and the capacity to menace with spikes of flowchart.

(And possibly a 'No it's not' option to the 'It's a dwarf' square...)

Since they are already a lot like Discworld dwarves, in that males and females don't have much in the way of relationships and the King can easily be a Queen, we should go the extra step and have female dwarves with beards.  After all, what you are attracted to is down to your genes.  If female dwarves have beards, male dwarves will find that appealing.  All that on top of Aqizzar's arguement that beards on females makes dwarves more distinct, well, kinda hard to say dwarves shouldn't.

Here's an unrelated question. How do we know if the hair they have isn't actually just overgrown pubic hair?

p.s: On the stance of Dwarf females and beards. Logically, I would assume they have beards. Personally, I'd only find it humourous and not arousing in the least. In reality, modding can take care of all these problems.

I'm inclined to agree with the flowchart.

As dumb as this post is (in the way you intended, of course), it does bring up an interesting question: will the new appearance raws allow multiple colors and textures of hair on a single creature, such as the classic combination of  brunette scalp and red beard?

So they can grow hair. Can they grow other things?

Modded race of reptile people who grow spines? Rock people who exude crystalline 'hair'? Insects who grow and molt shells?

If he's going for something similar to how Armok 1 did it's stuff(which I think he is) then yes all that would be easily possible.

Now whether a creature that grows steel hair can be harvested for steel is another question.

EDIT: Personally looking forward to scales myself.

I was considering saying that it would be a useful source of steel wool, but you could probably use a normal dwarf beard the same way already.

Dwarf: I have found that if you have your beard singed in a furnace, the resulting metal will contain trace amounts of what I like to call 'dwarfium.' Three times better than steel. But it comes at a horrible cost: A beard.
Dwarf2: Egads! That is horrible! Unless you make a suit of your ancestors... Which would actually be pretty dwarven...
Dwarf: Did you just call something dwarven?
 Dwarf2: Uhh...
Dwarf: *Takes dwarf2's beard* Egads! Yer not a dwarf but a short human with a fake beard!

In reality, modding can take care of all these problems.

So, dwarf females will end up having beards either way!  ;D
Now what about dwarf kids? Perhaps even babies should have beards.  :D
